375 Holland and Holland Magnum, 375 H&H
2012 is the centennial anniversary of one of the world’s most famous hunting cartridges. In the 100 years since it was introduced by the British gun making firm, Holland and Holland, the 375 H&H Magnum has become the standard hunting cartridge for taking any species of game on earth. The 375 H&H was one of the first cartridges to feature a belted case to allow for smooth feeding and headspacing on the belt. The cartridge is chambered by nearly every major rifle manufacturer and ammunition is available in many of the far reaches of the hunting world. In Africa, it is the standard minimum cartridge legally permitted to hunt dangerous game. Typically the cartridge is loaded with either a 270-grain bullet at 2,650-2,700 fps for medium game or a 300-grain bullet at 2,500-2,530 fps for large and dangerous game. Despite its size and power, .375 H&H Magnum rifles chambered in this caliber are often proven to be very accurate in a variety of bullet weights and will usually shoot those bullets to the same point of impact thereby increasing the versatility of the cartridge as a universal hunting cartridge.
