Description

The tried-and-true Sako TRG 22 - now in 6.5 Creedmoor.

Manufactured in Finland, the TRG 22 in 6.5 Creedmoor is a manually operated bolt action precision rifle with two-stage safety, double-stage trigger, and co-polymer stock strengthened by an aluminum internal skeleton. The stock's recoil pad is adjustable in distance, angle, height, and pitch, and the cheek piece is adjustable in height, windage, and pitch.

Featuring a free-floating, cold hammer forged, heavy contour barrel (with muzzle thread), this rifle is a long-awaited addition to the already respected TRG family.

Sako's entry into the tactical precision rifle market, the short-action TRG 22 is available in several short action calibers including .308 Winchester and .260 Remington. This rifle is a ISSF standard competition rifle and CISM competition winner, and serves governments of several nations as their primary sniper platform.

Sako TRG 22 configurations can include black stock/blued receiver and barrel, stealth black stock/phosphatized action and barrel, or a green stock with phosphatized action and barrel. All variants are packaged with a black bolt.

I bought both my TRGs thru Eurooptic. I have about 600 rounds thru my TRG-22 6.5CM. I also have the TRG42 in 338LM. This TRG-22 is the most precise rifle I own. I put APA Little Bastard brake on the TRG22. On clear days i can touch off, see the trace through the scope, watch the splash, rack and hit again without the cross hairs moving off target. The heavy TRG rifle, with brake, and light recoil 6.5CM is almost boring to shoot, and it hits the smallest steel on the range. Best groups with factory loads are 130gr Prime. I often have groups all touching at 200yds and have occasionally gotten below .25moa at 400yds from prone, in a horizontal line. I'm not sure i can actually call the wind any better here in TX. The barrel is very heavy and the balance is very forward off when shooting off a bench and sandbags. BUY THE SAKO BIPOD. Forget the price, buy it! Once you load the bipod and the TRG is locked in, this thing is surgical. I have Harris and Atlas bipods as well, they are not even close. I wish I could use the TRG bipod on all my rifles. My biggest concern will be getting it re-barreled after I shoot it out. NOTE: If you reload, this mag has plenty of room for VLDs, you can seat longer than AI Mags or PMAGs

I've had this rifle about a month (4/2017). New little about the rig before I purchased. Got some Hornady 140 gr. HPBT's to break-in. After bore sighting, my first three shots settled in one ragged hole at 100 yds. At 300 yds I get 1 MOA or smaller. Believe this rifle will be a great shooter in Precision/Tactical LR. Con: It's pricey, but worth every penny.

I own one with Nightforce 7x35. Shoots all in the same hole at 100. This is a great bench gun or law inforcement rifle. Heavy rifle but it tames recoil in 6.5. You need the Sako bipod to load the rifle forward: it sits close to the barrel axis, and just feels right. THe reps at the NRA convention in Dallas told me that the barrels are lapped, and they don’t need to break in. I did but they said it’s a waste of time. Clean immediately after shooting with a mild solvent. No stronger than Hopes no. 9, and don’t leave in the boar but few minutes. I feel a cold hammered forge barrel will take a long time to shoot out if you take cre of it.

I own 5 6.5 creedmoor rifles and this rifle is the most accurate and a pleasure to shoot. With 140 gr. Hornady HPBT's I can shoot1.5in.groops at 400yds. I just wish that the trigger could be adjusted below 2 lbs. Worth the price!
