All Accuracy International rifles are shot and function tested before leaving the factory. The highly advanced, new generation AX338 bolt action sniper rifle from Accuracy International is based on the DNA of the battle proven AW series. Inheriting the toughness, reliability, superb accuracy and ease of maintenance of it’s celebrated predecessor, the AX Magnum action retains the same flat-bottom design, but is both longer (CIP/ SAAMI), and wider allowing the use of a compact and reliable double stack 10-round magazine. Simply perfection.

This Accuracy International Rifle is fitted with a quick adjust butt pad and quick adjust cheekpiece option which is spring loaded for rapid adjustment. The extendable spike enables the user to observe the target area for extended periods with minimal fatigue. Designed with quick and fine adjustment to a maximum extended length of 115mm (4.5"). An ergonomically advanced pistol grip stock and new external stock design greatly improves the user’s ability to carry and move with the rifle. This rifle has a folding stock. Folded for transportation, reducing overall length by 235mm (9.25") and adding 0.2kg (0.4lb). The stock locks positively in the folded position for security and the avoidance of noise. In the extended position, built-in wear compensation ensures total rigidity. A shorter rear stock makes shooting easier in bulky body armour. Two sling loop attachment points are mounted on each side as standard. The two forward sling points can be moved according to user preference. Standard AI sling points are on this AX rifle.

The AI AX adjustableTrigger assembly with pull weights of 1.5-2.0kg (3.3-4.4lb). It is a battle proven two stage mechanism which allows a large sear engagement to be maintained until the first stage is taken up. The assembly is easily removed for cleaning by undoing the two socket head cap screws.

The Accuracy International AX safety mechanism has a three position safety mechanism. Position 1 (rear) blocks the firing pin and locks the bolt in the closed position. Position 2 (mid) blocks the firing pin, but allows the bolt to be operated so a live round may be safely removed from the chamber. Position 3 (forward) allows the weapon to be fired. The safety will only operate when the bolt is cocked.

The modular bolt has a new larger 22mm (0.87") dia. steel close fitting bolt, bolt head, locking ring and barrel tenon construction is significantly stronger and capable of withstanding higher temperatures and pressures. An improved leaf-spring style extractor facilitates straightforward removal and replacement.

A new strengthened design ensures safety in the most extreme environments. It is permanently bonded and bolted to the stiff aluminium chassis to eliminate movement, ensuring that zero will be maintained.

The 30 moa taper Picatinny rail is pinned and screwed to the action providing a standard interface for many optical systems. The match grade UK free floating barrel is threaded deep into the action with a large diameter thread. The magazine is surface toughened, and finished with a multi-part anti-corrosive, anti-friction coating, the compact 10-round double row, military grade steel magazine combined with the revised chassis design makes loading faster and more positive without lifting the rifle.

The f orend rail system is a free floating tube forend 16" long featuring a keyhole slot system for quickly and securely attaching modular rail sections on to which a virtually unlimited variety of optical, ranging, support and carry options can be fitted.
