Description

This Elcan SpecterTR 1/3/9 Tri FOV Sight with 5.56 ballistic reticle is ideal with an AR style platform and includes flip-covers.

Elcan Spectre TR 1x/3x/9x riflescopes are easily the most versatile of all Elcan riflescopes. The Spectre TR 1/3/9 riflescope is the ultimate solution for operators and sport shooters alike providing an optics platform for short, medium, and long range engagements. Like Elcan’s Dual-Role riflescopes, the Spectre Tri-Role combines the best of fixed low magnification scopes like the Trijicon ACOG with the versatility of low magnification variable scopes like the Schmidt Bender PMII 1.5-8x Short. The magnification levels can be quickly changed with the turn of a radial dial saving valuable time in the field.

Note: Lower illumination levels not daylight visible when set to 3x or 9x magnification.

Overall a disappointment considering the price point. Good: fast 1/3/9 changes. Simple bomb proof design. Integrated mount. Really nice flip caps Bad: At 9x, reticle is not crisp in the glass. Reticle washes out over "busy" targets -even at just 100 meters and it is hard to find the center of the reticle. Illumination isn't bright enough in full daylight to mitigate this issue with a different reticle color. The position of your head has to be perfect at 9x otherwise you get scope shadow very easily. Does not include a battery!! At $3200 list, $1899 on sale, seriously, give me a battery. CR2032 batteries are common enough but even the $19 Walmart red dots come with a battery. Lastly, I thought the red dot at 1x would come on regardless of whether illumination was on or not. This is not the case. If you are at 9x or 3x with no illumination and switch to 1x, you're looking at the same first focal plane reticle, just really tiny. You still have to turn the illumination knob on. I really thought the red dot that was automatic when switching to 1x. Cool design I guess. Maybe a good dual role for a DMR guy that still has to kick in doors. But definitely NOT a precision optic. I'm mainly disappointed considering the cost. If this was a $400 optic I'd be a little less critical but I should have gotten a Night force considering after taxes, shipping, etc it was over $2000. EuroOptic was great and I will definitely use them in the future. Fast shipping and I called them on the phone prior to ordering to verify it was in stock. Very friendly sales rep. A+ on them. C- on Elcan
