Description

An addition to the Sako 85 Bear Series, the Grizzly or Arctos line of rifles brings its own prestige to an already incredible series of rifles. It features a high-grade walnut stock, medium-contour fluted barrel, blued action give it an elegant appearance to make it a pleasure to handle. The Grizzly is purpose-oriented weapons for bear hunters. All four Bear models feature adjustable fast target acquisition iron sights and a detachable staggered two-row steel magazine with TLC, preventing unintentional magazine release. All can be top-loaded and have controlled cartridge feed, an adjustable single stage trigger and a barrel band for front swivel – plus mechanical case ejection. They are also equipped with integral dovetail rails for secure scope mounting.

Barrel
The 21.25 inch barrel length was chosen specifically enhance the maneuverability rifle while not greatly impacting the accuracy or muzzle velocity of the chamberings. Twist rates are chosen for each caliber to optimize accuracy and bullet performance. Manufactured with a passion for craftsmanship, each barrel is individually inspected by the human eye.
Safety
The simple no-nonsense special two-way safety of the Sako 85 ensures that you'll always be ready to fire when you need to and completely safe when you don't. The safety locks both the trigger and the bolt handle but a bolt release button allows you to release the bolt and eject a round with the safety engaged.
Stock
The stock of the Sako 85 Grizzly is designed to function perfectly in the field, optimizing shooting posture while withstanding brutal weather conditions. The Grizzly's stock is made of a high-grade walnut what has been oil to display the best of the wood grain and is finished with a fine rosewood tip.
Trigger & Magazine
The trigger of the Sako 85 Grizzly is a single stage that is adjustable from 2 - 4 pounds allowing the user to find that sweet spot between safety and accuracy. The magazine of the 85 Grizzly is a 5 round staggered detachable magazine that has been designed for 100% confidence in magazine retention.

Received my Grizzly/Arctos from Europtic a couple of months ago and I've just started working up loads for it. The wood is beautiful, and the iron sights are terrific; the length of pull is a bit longer than might be expected on many production rifles but great for me because I am 6'6". Like the other reviewer, I appreciate the palm swell, and the locking system for the magazine, which is easy to operate once you get the hang of it. Accuracy? My first 3-shot group at 100 yards with 200 gr. Nosler Accubonds measured .42.

I am very happy with this rifle. Besides looking real good, the wood is gorgeous, it is well balanced. The magazine doesn't rattle and is easy to remove, just put a little pressure on it's frontend. One thing I didn't expect but love is the palm swell on the right side only of the pistol grip. I do find it to be an accurate rifle I have three different 180gr loads and all shoot to the same point of impact and one 160gr load that shoots 1" higher, all loads very .5"-1.25" at a 100yds. The only thing I would change is shorten the length of pull .5-1" or so then it would be perfect. :-)
