I put this Zeiss Conquest 5-25x50 with the Rapid-Z 1000 reticle on my Savage Model 111 chambered for .338 Lapua. Admittedly, the scope is designed for the .308 Winchester, not the Lapua cartridge, but after some tinkering with ballistics using the online Zeiss ballistic calculator http://zeissrapidz.com/ballistic, (there is also an app) I decided that by using the right bullet and velocity it should work. My intent is to use the rifle/scope for elk hunting in a valley I know of along the continental divide in Colorado. After some experimentation with loads and the chronograph, I have settled on the 250 grain Barnes TSX FB at a tad under 2700 FPS, using Reloader 33 powder. That velocity is a bit slow compared to the current crop of barrel burning cartridges, but accuracy is consistently sub-moa, and energy at 500 yards is about the same as my 7mm Rem Mag at the muzzle. Using the Zeiss calculator, the stadia lines do not exactly match projected ballistics for the load I am using, however, they are close enough for my purposes. For that matter, though, the stadia lines don’t exactly match for the .308 Winchester, either. I have yet to use this scope for shots over three hundred yards, but I don’t foresee any issues. I recommend checking your load data with the calculator before you purchase the scope to see whether it will work for what you want to do. Pros: Excellent color rendition, clarity, and eye relief. Easy to adjust focus and magnification. Simple to use and ergonomic elevation/windage knobs. Zeroing was quick and easier than I expected. Compact size and light weight compared to some competitors. For this quality, it is awfully difficult to argue with the price tag. Potential-Cons: The one-inch tube limits reticle adjustments, but that is only an issue for the most demanding types, which I am not. Crosshairs are a little thicker than necessary making long-range precision a little less precision, but for a hunting scope the crosshairs are fine. Bottom line: The Zeiss Conquest 5-25x50 with the Rapid-Z 1000 is an excellent scope, well worth the money, and I would definitely buy it again.
