This is my second Steiner 1x5x24. You have to look through one to appreciate just how good this scope is. The 11 different light settings can only be completely used with night vision as the lower settings can not be seen without some type of light enhancement. The weight of this scope is on the heavy side but I was able to remove the back up sighs which helped to shed some weight. This scope has such a reliable record I didn't feel I needed the additional sights. I have not had a chance to shoot at targets beyond 100 yards so I can not comment on how well the redical works at extended ranges. I do plan on shooting at some longer distance and will be surprised if the graduations are not spot on. This scope is built like a tank. Up to this point I am extremely pleased with the quality and functionality and it should last through my grandsons life time.

I own this in 5.56 and 7.62x51. One sits on a SCAR16S and the other on a SCAR17S.
What i love is the ability to use this like a red dot at 1x.
What i don't like is that it's a BDC reticle.
I'm not sure what barrel lengths and ammunition these BDC's are calibrated.
I'm not even sure if Steiner has a reticle analysis page where you can sync your particular set up and ammo to the holds on the reticle. If they do, great. If they don't, shame on them. I just found the page for Burris.. i'll have to look for Steiner's. Of course i wouldn't have to look if they'd just offer a MIL HASH reticle. Getting a DOPE for a particular set up and memorizing the holdovers in MILS is much, much, much, much easier than linking up random yardage numbers with the limited number of holds on a BDC. You CANNOT make precise shots.
For example, i had originally put this on my 18" DDM4V11Pro. At 600 yards shooting IMI 77 grain Razor Core i had to hold high to hit my target. Each ammo and barrel length is going to be different once you get to 4, 5 and especially 600 yards. Hell, my PPU 75 grain match hits more than 2 ft lower than the 77 grain IMI ammo at 600 yards. I AM NOT A FAN OF BDC reticles for this very reason. My discontinued Burris 1.5-8x with CQ-Mil reticle (now discontinued due to poor sales ) is a much better reticle choice for bridging the gap between close quarters and medium range shooting (to 800 yards or so).
