Designed between the master gunsmiths of Dan Wesson and CZ USA, the DWX combines all the best features from 1911s and CZs poplar pistols. This is evident in the angles and contours of the grip, which greatly resemble those of a CZ75. The optimized geometry of the grip delivers excellent comfort and ergonomics, perfectly filling the shooter’s hand and reducing recoil. The CZ75 grip profile also allows any CZ75-pattern grips to be used. Another feature borrowed from CZ handguns is the locked breech barrel system reminiscent of the CZ P-09 and P-07. These similarities make for a better shooting experience for anyone already acquainted with a hammer-fired CZ pistol, as well as making disassembly quick and simple. Another notable feature of the DWX is a compatibility with many standard 1911 parts, allowing competitive shooter and gunsmiths to customize the DWX however they want. The sights are similarly customizable thanks to their dovetail mounting, allowing any 1911-style front sight and any CZ Shadow 2-style rear sight to be used. The standard rear sight on the DWX is adjustable for fine-tuning shot placement, and the fiber optic front sight creates a glowing dot for instant sight acquisition. Accuracy is further enhanced thanks to a serrated rib running between the front and rear sight significantly reduces glare for clean sight picture. In addition, the DWX is equipped with a flat K-style trigger with a crisp pull, as well as a square “commander-style” hammer.
