Description

Sig Sauer’s KILO6K HD Rangefinding Binoculars are an ideal addition to any rifle hunter, archery hunter, or long-range shooter’s kit. It utilizes a compact, ergonomic design for ease of use and is packed with Sig Sauer exclusive features. The KILO6K comes equipped with Sig Sauer’s advanced LIGHTWAVE DPS Technology, a proprietary Digital Signal Processing engine that leverages the Hyperscan power management technique for an ultra-fast scan rate (4 times per second) as well as the latest generation Field Programmable Gate Array that runs a sophisticated signal processing algorithms to reduce false positives while finding weak or distant targets. This allows the KILO6K to deliver accurate measurements at 6000 yards on reflective targets, 4000 yards on trees, and 2000 yards on deer.

The KILO6K’s precise range-finding abilities are perfectly matched with additional features to ensure greater long-range accuracy. These include five Target Modes: First, Best, Last, Fog, and Extended Range, as well as five Range Modes: ABU, ABX, AMR, LOS, Archery. The large selection of Target Modes and Range Modes allows the KILO6K to adapt to virtually any application or condition for maximum versatility. The KILO6K is also enabled with BDX 2.0 software, which can be synced with a BDX riflescope to provide an illuminated holdover dot via Bluetooth for enhanced long-range accuracy. In addition, the KILO6K is compatible with the BaseMap app for setting remote waypoints on ranged targets – a perfect feature for locating downed game.

Overall I’m very happy with these. TLDR: central unit (rangefinder, ballistic calculator, and binocular optics) is fantastic, peripherals (chest harness, lack of lens caps, no standardized way to attach to a tripod) definitely need some work. It’s a great rangefinder. I’ve been able to easily range a deer-sized target at 1800 yards on a sunny day. Been having a hard time finding anything much farther than that to try on (apart from some barns that were probably past 10km out). Ranging features are very intuitive, and ballistic solutions out to 705 yards have been spot on once I got my profile properly calibrated. Glass quality is also pretty solid- probably comparable to my vortex vipers, maybe a tad worse around sunset, but definitely a step up compared to my old vortex diamondback binos. A couple notes: these do not come with lens covers. If you read around a bit sig actually states this somewhere, but I was fairly surprised for an optic in the $1000+ range to not include this feature. Especially since the included carrying case is actually open on the back (the side that faces in towards your chest), I feel like this is a recipe to get dirt, sand, and scratches on your lenses. The case itself is also very minimalistic and doesn’t feel like it holds the binos very securely. I swapped in my other bino chest rig almost immediately. These are also DENSE. As in, the first thing I thought on picking them up was “wow, that’s HEAVY!” Not a problem for me- I don’t mind lugging a few extra ounces through the field, but definitely heavier than traditional binos and a separate rangefinder combined. If you’re looking to save on weight, this is not the way to do it (the 32mm objective lens is probably better for that). Sig’s BDX app is fine. It does the job it was intended for (working with the kilo rangefinders), and not much else. That said, the app ONLY works with the hardware. It doesn’t have a feature to view ballistic solutions in a hypothetical set of conditions (you have to range something to get a solution), and there’s no way to view a complete ballistic table. I would say these are basic features of any ballistic calculator, and something that BDX certainly has the capabilities to handle, so disappointed they’re not included. I also found the point dropping feature tied in to BaseMap fairly useless. As far as I can tell, it requires the paid version of BaseMap to actually drop a point based on the rangefinder, and once I have that, by the time I’ve got all the pieces of hardware talking to each other, I could have just drawn a line in OnX to exactly where I want to go in about half the time. Now if they integrated firing solution readouts onto the points dropped in BaseMap so I could have multiple targets/areas with pre-calculated solutions already visible, that would be amazing! Overall the core unit is what I wanted, and it definitely delivers. Haven’t had a chance to take these on a hunt yet but definitely looking forward to the speed of getting ballistic solutions. For comps, the kilo6ks are great for ranging the targets, but ultimately I’m going to be relying on a lot of other tools as well (other ballistic calculators, paper notebooks) to get the job done.
