Description
Springfield Armory’s 1911-A1 Range Officer was built for competition with the best components and manufacturing techniques. The Range Officer has the same frame and slide as the TPR pistols. The Range Officer also features a memory bump on the beavertail grip safety that allows the shooter to easily get the same grip each time.
In 1777, just after the start of the American Revolution George Washington established the United States' first armory in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Springfield Armory during the Revolutionary War was used as a site to secure ammunition and gun carriages vital to the struggle for independence. After the Revolutionary War, the Springfield Armory began manufacturing muskets for the new nation and quickly became a center for weapons development in the United States for nearly two centuries, producing some of the nation's most prolific firearms including the M1911 pistol, M1 Garand rifle, and the M14 rifle..
After the Springfield Armory was closed in 1968 by the federal government, the Reese family of Geneseo, Illinois licensed the name and insignia of Springfield Armory. Since then the company has dedicated itself to protecting the legacy of the Springfield Armory by continuing to develop high quality firearms and reproducing some of the Armory's most famous firearms like the 1911 pistol and their semi-automatic version of the M14, the M1A rifle. Springfield Armory has won multiple American Rifleman's Golden Bullseye Awards and has become one of the largest firearm manufactures in the world.

Bought this pistol because I thought a 1911 was a must-have. I expect my grandfathers carried a similar pistol in WWI and my father carried one in WWII. I bought my 1911 in 9mm for a number of reasons, including the fact that I have other pistols in 9mm and don't see the need to have a .45. I absolutely love this Springfield 1911. Ergonomics are first-rate. And I'm suddenly a much better shooter. In addition, EuroOptic was great to deal with, offering a very fair price and conscientious personal service, not to mention lightning fast shipping. I want to add a plug for the holster I selected. I bought a black leather paddle holster with thumb break (Item 184 in their lineup) and 2 black leather double magazine pouches. The workmanship evident in all three pieces is superb. Fit and finish were even better than I'd hoped. While the leather is substantial, my holster for my pistol right out of the box. No break in necessary. Same with the mag pouches. I thought my new 1911 deserved a great holster. Craft Holsters delivered. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again. And I don't h estate to recommend them.
