LWRC's SIX8 A5 Upper Receiver is ideal for a custom AR build chambered in 6.8x43mm – a cartridge said to bridge the lethality gap between 5.56 and 7.62 NATO rounds by utilizing a heavier projectile for more energy on impact. The SIX8 A5 Upper Receiver is optimized for the 6.8 cartridge. This is evident in the Advanced Combat bolt calibrated for 6.8mm, which utilizes a fully supported bolt face, dual extractor springs, the ‘Claw’ extractor provides 20% mode purchase on the case rim for positive extraction every time. 6.8 augmentations also include a Nickel Boron coating for wear resistance and permanent lubricity as well as an enlarged ejection port.

Other features of the SIX8 A5 Upper Receiver a scallop cut rail design for easy access to the 2-position gas block. This allows the user to pre-restrict the gas flow to the piston system to enhance reliability when a suppressor is equipped by compensating for the added back pressure. The SIX8 A5 Upper Receiver's gas-piston system can be accessed quickly by loosening two thumb screws and removing the top rail section. The SIX8 A5 Upper Receiver is outfitted with a heavy-profile, cold-hammer forged barrel with a black Nitride treatment. Available barrel lengths include 10.5", 12.7", 14.7", and 16.1", each of which features a unique spiral fluting. The spiral fluting not only looks good, but also reduces weight by up to 20% and provides more surface area to help cool off the barrel faster after multiple shots.
