In 2016 Benelli redesigned this shotgun to include an improved loading port for greater efficiency when quad loading, an XS express rear sight for slug accuracy and a port caddy for a spare shell. These upgrades with the ComforTech technology produces less felt recoil. The Crio system treats barrels and choke tube to deliver increased pattern density, resulting in the ultimate shotgun in 3-gun.
The heart of the Performance Shop M2 3-Gun is Benelli's renowned Inertia Driven system. This extremely reliable action is composed of just 3 main parts – the bolt body, inertia spring, and rotating bolt head – and harnesses the inertia of recoil to cycle the next round. This simple, yet robust system eliminates the need to make adjustments, and is able to handle the lightest field loads to heavy magnum shells. The Inertia Driven System prevents residue from entering the action and ensures the gas, smoke, and burnt powder remain in the barrel. This makes the Inertia Driven System run significantly cleaner than gas systems.
