Description

The Sako Safari rifle chambered in .416 Rigby is a classic safari rifle in function and elegance. Designed on the Sako 85 long action, this Sako Safari offers traditional Sako features such as mechanical ejection, a machined dovetail on the receiver for scope mounting, and control round feed to ensure reliable cartridge feeding in all hunting situations (Pat.pend.). A secure magazine release prevents against accidental magazine discharge (Pat.pend.).

The single-stage trigger is adjustable from 1 kg to 2 kg (2 to 4 lbs). The Sako 85 Safari safety features a mechanism that allows loading and unloading of the rifle with safety engaged. A hinged floor plate allows the fixed magazine to be loaded with up to 5 belted magnum cartridges.

The Sako 85 Safari Rifle features a traditional straight oiled walnut stock with red recoil pad and ebony forend tip. This rifle comes with open quarter-rib type rear sight, band type windage adjustable front sight, and a cold hammer forged barrel.

I was very luck to just get a few of these Sako 85's. .416s and .300 Win Mag. They are fantastic. So hard to find a good new .416. Very very nice to get a pair with other calibers. From the sticks, the .416 kicks with some bite, but they all do right? BUT in the field I and my young teenage son did not notice at all. I was able to get 2 shots of quick w the .416 at a moving target, so that says something about the control-ability. I haven't tried the .300 yet (nothing presented itself!) but it seems beautiful and both have a smooooth action out of the box. They have laminated / ply stocks, presumably with the presumption they would be more durable and help with sight / scope continuity. Can't totally attest to that, but the laminated / ply does look very different (in a positive way) and the concept makes a lot of sense. The triggers are terrific. Smooth all the way through. (We have not adjusted them yet, so I'd presume are on the top end, but still smooth). Serious quality!
