Aimpoint is the worldwide leader and originator of red dot sighting technology. After 35 years of working closely with military weapons systems experts, experienced hunters, and marksmen around the world, Aimpoint red dot sights remain the number one choice for combined speed and accuracy.
When the time comes to shoot, there should be absolutely no question that you can count on your sight to perform. A weapon sight should simplify aiming while meeting the highest possible requirements for reliability and ruggedness. Aimpoint understands that conditions in the field place extreme demands on your equipment, so they design and test Aimpoint products to stand up to any conditions you are likely to encounter. Over 500,000 Aimpoint sights are currently in use by U.S. troops. In 2006, the U.S. Army ran a series of tests to see if there was another red dot sight that was better than the current Aimpoint in use.
Soldiers, law enforcement professionals, hunters, and competitive shooters have known for decades that Aimpoint products have the fastest target acquisition, the most rugged design, and the ability to function in the most extreme environments. Each sight is hand built in Sweden, assigned an individual identification number and rigorously tested during numerous quality control checks in accordance with ISO 9000 standards of quality. Red Dot Sights Explained
Red dot sights differ from traditional optics. When using a red dot sight, the shooter can keep both eyes open while sighting in on a target. This means a more natural aiming process, quicker target acquisition, and greater accuracy. Red dot sights are not typical magnifying scopes with an illuminated reticle; magnifying scope reticles must be centered, and eye relief becomes a factor when acquiring a target. If the reticle is not centered, the shot will be off target.
When a shooter looks through an Aimpoint red dot sight, an LED diode paints an illuminated dot on what would normally be the objective lens on a typical magnifying scope. However, eye relief is not an issue, and the dot does not have to be centered in ths sight. The red dot points to the target - no matter what. This means increased target acquisition speed and accuracy for the shooter. Military tests have proven that marksmen shoot fastest with a single red dot reticle.
Red dot sights are electronic, so they do require power to operate. The battery life of a red dot sight is dependent on both the power consumption of the red dot LED and the capacity of the battery. Depending on the type of battery used, Aimpoint red dot sights with Advanced Circuit Efficiency Technology (ACET) have a battery life of up to 80,000 hours.
