Description

When you are hunting deep in the backwoods, on the prairie or in the mountains, your rifle is one of your most precious assets. You need a rifle with the utmost accuracy and reliability, without it being too heavy. Christensen Arms has provided an answer to these demands with the Ridgeline series of hunting rifles. The Ridgeline could be considered to be the pinnacle of hunting rifles featuring a lightweight carbon fiber composite sporter stock and a 416R stainless steel carbon fiber wrapped barrel. These attributes give the rifle a weight of just 6.3 to 6.8 pounds. Another admirable quality of the Ridgeline is its match-grade accuracy with a sub-MOA guarantee, this is helped by its adjustable Trigger-Tech trigger with a light pull weight of just 2.5 to 3.5 lbs. To ensure the utmost reliability, Ridgeline rifles uses systems that have already been proven to be effective, such as the M16 style extractor. The receiver also come with an enlarged ejection port, and magnum calibers come with a dual ejector.

In addition to its lightweight and pinpoint accuracy, the Ridgeline Rifle series is equally versatile. It’s available in 20 different chamberings, from the nimble flat shooting 22-250 Remington to the raw long range stopping power of the 300 PRC. The multitude of different chamerings gives the Ridgeline a higher range of applications when compared to other rifles in its class.

I bought the Christensen Ridgeline in 270 Winchester. During the barrel break-in I was concerned about the group sizes I was getting because they were awful using Federal 136g Terminal Ascent. Evidently that is an ammunition that my rifle doesn't care for, because the other brand/bullet combinations I have used are all excellent, ie <1 MOA, , including "factory seconds" 130g Federal Trophy Copper, 130g Hornady Superperformace GMX, & 140g Federal Nosler Accubond. I have only used it for one hunting season, so the sample size is small, but with 3 shots I was able to harvest 3 deer, all between 200-300 yards using the 140g Accubond. None of the deer made it more than 10-15 yards after being shot. The bolt seems a little tight in my opinion, but I really don't care about that because it works fine, and it hasn't hindered my shooting. I'm not especially into triggers, nor am I picky about them, so this Triggertech seems fine in my opinion. I didn't notice anything special when shooting with the radial muzzle break, but I use a suppressor so the muzzle break is not a part of the equation anymore. The recoil pad is great and absorbs the recoil nicely. Last but not least the rifle itself is beautiful, but after all aren't all rifles beautiful? Overall the rifle is fantastic, and I couldn't be happier with it.
