This is an excellent Deer hunting rifle scope. Eye relief and eye box is fantastic even at 9x and the controls are simple and easy - perfect for the field. 9x is plenty of mag and the clarity is excellent across the range. The scope focuses quickly and easily. I mounted this on a Tikka T3x CTRss in .308Win using Leupold low rings and it was easy to sight-in at 150yds and has held zero beautifully so far through about 100 rounds. Plus, the silver finish looks cool with the stainless barrel of the CTRss! This Leopold model has capped turrets (which I prefer in the field) so hunters make any necessary bullet drop corrections by optical holdover. Optical holdovers, always a challenge (especially on second focal plane scopes), are even a bit more challenging with a simple duplex (crosshair) reticle like on this scope. If this scope had a mil-dot or milling reticle, it'd be 5 stars for sure. As it is, use this scope +/- the 3-inch point blank zero of your chosen cartridge and you'll be A-OK for hunting. Bottom Line: I would recommend this scope to any Deer hunter. One small downside: Though Leupold says they exist, I have yet to find anyone selling a sunshade in silver for this scope......
