Bohning’s Griffin Vane is the result of three years of extensive research and testing. Specifically designed for Olympic recurve archers, the Griffin Vane was created with three goals in mind: One – It had to perform as well as or better than a mylar-type (ie spin wing) vane, Two – it had to be significantly more durable, and Three – it had to be easier to fletch. Bohning’s engineering team paired up with aerospace engineers to create a digital rendering and to execute computerized simulations which was met with great success. After that, prototypes were distributed to 100 archers for a test involving 200 arrows being shot in varying weather conditions. Prototypes that failed to meet expectations were eliminated, and finally, the Griffin Vane was born.

The Griffin Vane itself utilizes a twisted ribbon design, greatly aiding in arrow rotation and boasts all the performance benefits of a mylar-type vane (e.g. spin wing) without the drawbacks. Perhaps the most notable feature of the Griffin Vane is its cut out profile – this minimizes surface area, allowing the Griffin Vane to resist crosswinds and provide Olympic-level accuracy in variable, constant, and zero wind shooting scenarios. It features a straight base that can be fletched by hand or using a standard Pro Class style jig. It is recommend fletching with glue, but double-sided tape (sold separately) can be used as well. A plastic clamp adapter is included with each pack of Griffin Vanes – useful for those fletching by hand – If you're fletching with a jig, you may find it's easier to skip the adaptor and insert the vane directly into the clamp.
