Hornady’s InterLock Bullets feature a traditional design and are ideal for medium to large game. They utilize a “cup and core” design with an exposed lead tip. The interior of the bullet features a raised interlock ring imbedded directly into the bullets core to mechanically lock the jacket and core together. Upon impact, the lead tip initiates expansion and the interlock ring works to keep the jacket and core together for increased weight retention. The effect of this is further enhanced by a series of interior grooves which strategically weaken the upper section for increased expansion. The jacket’s tapering also aids in expansion at reduced velocities, yet controls expansion at higher velocities. In addition, the Interlock bullets feature a secant ogive design to provide an aerodynamic profile while maintaining a long bearing surface. The combination of a slender point and increased bearing surface results in a lower drag, increased stability, flatter trajectories, and greater accuracy.
