Leupold Freedom - RDS 1x34 (34mm) Red Dot 1.0 MOA Dot w/Mount Black 180092

I installed this on a CVA Accura muzzleoader since WA changed the regs to allow 1x scope or red dot this year. I walked into some private timber land I had a permit for and within 200 yards I heard what sounded like a bear crashing around, so while I was waiting for the bear to appear I hear sounds coming down the hill above me and turn around to see two does. After passing up multiple deer the last two years because I had a hard time seeing my irons in low light, I decided to shoot the bigger doe. Dead center neck shot at 50 yards uphill. No wasted meat and the deer dropped where it stood. I wouldn't have risked a neck shot with open sights off hand. As you adjust the brightness, visually the dot appears to get bigger or smaller. I find when sighting in at 100 yards I want the dot at the lowest brightness of 1-3. I believe there are 8 brightness levels. At around 4-6 brightness the dot starts to cover the target, depending on the size of your target. There is some red illumination reflection on the bottom edge of the red dot, but it doesn't distract me at all....this is one of the reasons I'm giving this 4/5 stars. The dot could be more crisp as your brightness goes up and the reflection could be potentially distracting to some people in low light. The shake-awake is really nice and the build quality and lens quality stands up to the Leupold name.
