Intended use for this scope is to be mounted on an AR10 for informally ringing steel gongs out to 400 yards and occasional hog hunting while stalking or from a blind in the eastern Texas woodlands. Challenge, find a quality scope with an uncluttered field of view that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
Pro's - this is an inexpensive scope that will allow to you to quickly dial in a distance once you've shot, logged and tagged the correct number on the elevation dial. I used a gold craft pin to highlight the correct tick marks on the elevation scale for hundred yard distances. The hashmarks below the cross hairs, if you can see them, will give you quick hold over sighting once you've built up your dope card.
Con's - For my experienced 50 plus year old eyes, the cross hairs are too fine for this type of scope, the lower hash marks will be hard to use if I'm in a timed or stressful situation. A zero stop would really be nice on this scope, the turret easily adjusts up or down, I can see it getting knocked off zero if you were using a front cross body sling while stalking.
Would the same model Leupold with the illuminated 'pig-plex' recital might have been a better choice? Maybe but then you have to look at the words 'pig-plex' and your sight picture is really cluttered IMHO. I wish this scope had a German #1 reticle but then, I could have spent a triple what I did. Yes, I would buy the scope again and due to the great customer service I'd only buy it from EuroOptics.
