Mauser’s 18 Waldjagd, German for Hunting in the Woods, was designed for individuals who want to use the same rifle for multiple hunting applications. Measuring in at a mere 40” long, the 18 Waldjagd features a compact overall profile making it an ideal choice for hunting game in densely wooded areas, hunting in a blind, or for driven hunts. The stock is made from an ultra-durable synthetic material and features rubberized inserts in the grip and for-end area for superior control over the rifle even in wet conditions. The 18 Waldjagd is equipped with express-style open sights with a high contrast rear sight and adjustable red fiber-optic front sight, allowing the shooter to rapidly acquire and engage targets. Other features of the 18 Waldjagd include an innovative and easy to use three-position safety mechanism. In the first position, the rifle is ready to fire. In the second position, the firing pin is locked but the bolt can still be opened. In the third position, both the firing pin and bolt are locked. In addition, the 18 Waldjagd’s receiver is drilled and tapped for the installation of an optics mount.
