Description

The ultimate in low-power, high-zoom ratio riflescopes, the Nightforce ATACR 1-8x24mm features pristine ED glass, the intelligent and fast FC-DM daylight-illuminated reticle, low-profile adjustements and legendary bomb-proof reliability. The ATACR 8x has a field of view at 1x equivalent to iron sights - but with vast improvements.

The FC-DM reticle's daylight-visible adjustments allow for extremely rapid engagement at 1x with the ability to zoom to up to 8x to make longer shots - or help locate and identify targets. This reticle also provides precise hold and hold-off points. This reticle coupled with ED glass and a first focal plane construction allows the ATACR 8x to combine all of the features of a fast-acquisition reflex sight with the identification and precision of a high-end riflescope.

Running this in a Larue 1.93 SPR mount on a PWS 16" 7.62 and think that it's a great balance for CQB distance out to anything you you could reasonably target ID. Great features and as daylight bright as any Aimpoint RDS. Front focal plan is great at 1x you have a RDS equivalent and then under magnification a very workable reticle with just enough information for holding in the reticle without being too busy. Glass quality is noticable when compared to other good optics. It's not cheap but the build quality is obvious.

The ATACR 1-8x24 lpvo is a superb optic for an AR platform gun. The optic quality, fit and finish are top drawer. You will not be disappointed by the function or looks of this optic. So what differentiates the ATACR from the competition? The most noticeable difference is scope weight. The ATACR is substantially lighter even after adding in a good mount (my ATACR did not come with a packaged mount, I am using a Scalarworks Leap and am very happy with the combo). As far as reticle go there are things to like about every reticle. The ATACR has either a milrad or MOA option, something for nearly everyone. Price aside, if Nightforce’s goal was to achieve a high-end precision 1-8 lpvo that is (dare say) lightest in class-boom. Job done!

I'm considering waiting for a sale to buy one of these to use on TWO different rifles: Ruger Amercan Ranch bolt acttions in 5.56 and 7.62x39. Yes the scope is very expensive compared to the rifles, but remember when you build a stereo system you are supposed to spend more on the speakers than the amp :) With a LaRue QD base and the built in rails on the rifles, this could be the answer to a scope that allows quick holdovers and wind for the 2 mentioned calibers. Perfect for out to 600 yds. The first focal plane means that the holds won't change when I change the power, which gives it an advantage over something like the similarly priced Swarovski Z8i which is 2nd focal plane.
