Description

Show Demo scopes are lightly handled and may have light blemishes, but are unmounted.

Optimized toward fast target acquisition and short- to mid-range shooting, the Nightforce NX8 F1 features a 1-8x magnification range, a 24mm objective lens, and a first focal plane reticle. The compact profile of the NX8 (only 8.75" long and 17 ounces) allows Nightforce to implement their signature superior optics in a small package that doesn't add a large signature or weight commitment.

Like all of the optics made by Nightforce, the NX8 1-8x24mm Riflescopes offers the same legendary bomb-proof ruggedness. Each scope features a one-piece tube precision machined from a solid bar stock of 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum alloy. The tube is two to three times thicker than riflescopes of a lesser quality, resulting in less overall stress, greater thermal stability, a consistent zero and a virtually impervious shield for the precision optics within. The lenses are matched and aligned by hand in a process called optical indexing to ensure the highest possible optical performance. The objective lens utilizes a multi-element design like those found in the highest quality telescopes to focus light rays more precisely for exceptional image clarity and color accuracy. Optical performance is further enhanced thanks to multi-coated ED glass that results in superb light transmission, brilliant images, and exceptional color contrast. The internal mechanisms on the windage and elevation turrets are held in place by a specially designed spring that spends two weeks in a polishing tumbler before being installed in the optic to deliver perfectly smooth operation. This guarantees zero loss of integrity, zero loss of repeatability.

There are two current options available for the Nightforce NX8:

Nightforce NX8 Features

  • Daylight-visible center red dot promotes fast target acquisition, with "Off" settings in between each brightness setting
  • Intelligent FC-Mil and FC-MOA first focal plane reticles provide precise hold points via subtensions
  • ZeroStop elevation turret allows for quick, precise elevation adjustments via dialing, with rapid and positive return to zero
  • .2 Mil-Radian OR .5 MOA elevation increments (depending on model)
  • Integrated Power Throw Lever (PTL)
  • 30mm Body Tube with rugged construction balanced with light weight
  • Capped windage adjustment

I am a 3 gun competitor. I spent 4 years with a Vortex Razor HD 2 (JM reticle). This is an excellent optic, but it is heavy and the JM reticle limits you to one specific cartridge for known holds at the given subtentions. I was looking for a lighter optic with a Mil reticle. I did several months handling and looking through various options (Vortex, Trijicon, Swaro, NF, Kahles). The NX8 was the closest to perfect for my needs. It is 1/2 pound lighter than my Vortex, the glass is just as clear, and the Mil reticle is FFP and much more useful than the JM reticle. I've had a chance to run the optic in a few matches and I couldn't be happier. The zero stop feature is a big plus. The knobs track and return to zero every time. At 1x, with the illuminated reticle, the optic is a useful RDS for target engagements inside 10 yards. The eyebox is about 10% tighter than my Vortex. This is not an issue if you know how to hold a solid cheek weld on your rifle. This link is a video of my optic in use on a complex 18 target rifle array ranging from 160 to 480 yards: https://youtu.be/Se8tsyVDEls

I've been gradually moving up the quality ladder over the years with the LVPO scopes. I started with a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x24, then moved to a USO 1-8 TS-8X. I didn't care for the reticles in either as on the highest power they were incredibly "thick". I then moved up to this Nightforce NX8 and got the Demo model. It is awesome. I love the reticle and the fact that on 8 power the reticle looks like my other Nightforce long range scopes. Love how bright the illuminated reticle can get and is viewable in bright sunlight. The scope looks absolutely brand new and has both capped windage and elevation knobs. From what I understand it is the LE/MIL model. The only thing I found wrong was in the box there was a an owners manual for the ATACR 5-25 model scope. Not sure what was up with that. I just downloaded the NX8 manual from Nightforce. My only regret is that after having this scope, I am now eyeballing an ATACR 1-8. Dammit.

The NX8 itself is a great optic for a light carbine or SBR. 1x is fast, I found some fish eye and the FOV is not great but when you actually run the gun on the range none of that mattered. Eyebox is tight on 8x but the glass is really good. For me I wanted small, lightweight and dependable the NX8 delivered.

Its hard to find a scope as capable as this in its price range. It's definitely more oriented to a mid to longer range AR-15 where you'll be taking most of the shots at 8x and maybe use the 1x if you need it, but it will serve you well in either role. The discounted price of these demo models is a big plus as well, and helps the more budget conscious obtain higher end glass like this.

First off, the price is amazing! Secondly, the scope looked brand new! Clarity is what you would expect from NF, good eye box, great day time viewable illumination, PTL is perfect size for quick power adjustments without getting in the way. Tactile feedback when adjusting elevation or windage. Scope is certainly a 10/10! I highly recommend this to anyone that wants an all around perfect optic. This sits happily on my URG-I.

I really like the NX8 the combination of being light weight, compact, great glass and reticle (not the moa). At 1x it's really easy to use the reticle with no illumination. It balances really well on my SR15 unlike other heavier LPVO's. Great optic, highly recommend!

The NX8 1-8 has clear glass, easy to read reticle and is light weight, just right for my 3gun rifle setup. Eurooptic.com shipped it fast and best price I had found ... next PRS Rifle is getting a Night Force from here as well
