Installed on Rem 700 5r Milspec 3 days ago. This is my 3rd rifle optic. I also own a Vortex Viper PST Gen 1 and Gen 2. It falls somewhere between the two in overall glass quality and turret feel. The zero stop is very good and easy to set-up. The only negative I have is the reticle is not my favorite. It is overly thick at the center of the crosshair. I purchased this on sale as Nikon is suspending manufacture of rifle optics. I thought it was a very good value at the price paid.

Had been swapping a Leupold Mark 5 HD between rifles and decided I wanted a dedicated optic for a couple of rifles before a range trip (vacation). Purchased this Nikon FX1000 and a Vortex Viper PST Gen II. The FX1000 was mounted to a Ruger Precision 6 Creed and helped provide several hits at 1 mile. It has 10 mils per rotation, allowing 5 mils windage each direction (which I used). The RPR has a 20 MOA rail; zeroed factory white box 108 ELD-M @ 200 yds and scope STILL had 16.9 Mil elevation available to dial. So, printed adjustment range spec is indeed conservative. For extended range work, I like a reticle that provides more elevation holdover if needed, but isn't busy with a tree so it is easier to see misses in tough conditions, and that's exactly what it provides. Overall, this optic pairs nicely with the Viper PST Gen II. I've got another FX1000 coming based on how this one performed at the range.

Incredible price for a top-of-the-line Nikon scope. Mounted it on a shooter Savage 12 & went to the range. Bore-sighted it @ the range & my first 5 shots were as close to each other as typewriter keys are & while adjusting, the fifth shot was in the bull. Love the reticle & EuroOptic service could not have been better with fast delivery.

Nikon was one of the last custom lens makers. If they quit then now there’s only 2 lense makers. So different companies all use same lense and coat them differently. That’s were Nikon was best. There top line scopes turn night to day. It gathers light like no other scope I had ever seen. Land surveyor by trade. Now it’s just Leica doing their own thing!
