The Sako 85/XS Varmint delivers superior long-range accuracy and is highly suited for hunting small to medium game. It comes outfitted with a cold hammer forged, heavy contour, free-floating barrel that greatly mitigates vibration and recoil to help the shooter stay on target. The stock is constructed from premium walnut, and features checkering on the grip and fore-end, as well as a raised cheek piece for comfortable aiming and shouldering. As with all of the Sako 85 series, the 85/XS Varmint’s action is equipped with Sako’s exclusive Controlled Cartridge Feed system which eliminates double feeds and cartridge jams. The bolt handle has also places the shooter’s hand in a natural position during the cycling process to help accommodate rapid repeating firing. Other features include a loaded chamber indicator, and a two position safety: the first position locks the trigger but allows the chamber to be opened for safely unloading the rifle, the second position locks both the trigger and bolt. In addition, the Sako 85/XS Varmint comes standard with a rubber recoil pad, and a single stage trigger adjustable between 2 – 4 lbs.
