I got the IR model and am using it with a Gen 3 unfilmed white phosphor tube. The OTAL C is Lighter and smaller than I thought. Not much bigger than a pistol light. The integrated mount is solid and I can remove and re-attach with no adjustments to my zero. The laser is bright an easily visible for over a mile. Due to it's size I was able to use it on a 9mm PDW with a 4.5 inch barrel no problem. The OTAL C also adds no discernable weight on the front of a full length battle rifle. It uses 1 AA, So I can use the same batteries for NODs and Laser. About the the best option I have seen for a stand alone, civilian, IR aiming laser.

It’s a stand alone IR laser, so the price is reasonable. This does the job for me since it’s intended for my CQB home defense build and dont really need to go full PEQ 15, DBAL, or MAWL. (I wouldnt want the cops taking a super expensive build for evidence incase I had to use it.) The bloom alone from the laser is more than enough to illuminate a close quarters setting while still having full use of the pointer, so an illuminator would be redundant for that purpose. This is an economical solution if you have a pair of good gen 2 or gen 3 NODs but dont want to ding your credit score.

Highly recommended if you have a standalone IR flashlight or illuminator (weapon or head-mounted), a helmet/head-mounted NV device, and no need for a visible laser. Otherwise, this isn't the laser aiming device for you.
The unit has a very low profile on rail and is very light. SureFire tape switches, Modlite Modbuttons, and Unity Tactical HotButtons (laser models) all operate the OTAL consistently after many bumps and scrapes. The unit is dang rugged for its size and weight.
$380 (+tax, s&h) is a steal for the OTAL-C. If you're on the fence, get off it and checkout now.

Steiner OTAL-C with my PVS-14 works very well together. Sight in first shot 5” low, turned u/d top knob 180 degrees and bullseye. Brilliant green dot, very nice.

Great single-function IR laser. Very light weight and unobtrusive on my AR15. Works great for me. I'm see a decent IR point of aim at 200 yards, no problem. Inside dark buildings or rooms, you'll get a IR "splash" but it doesn't bother me much for close-in work. Spoke to the folks at STEINER before I bought a 2nd one to mount on my AR10 in 7.62mm, as I questioned the unit's ability to withstand the heavier recoil impact and cycling of a .30 caliber rifle. They said "No problem!" The price, service, and quick delivery by EuroOptics.com cannot be beat!

Small and light. I do feel the windage and elevation knobs could be improved. Bit overall it does exactly what I need

Steiner OTAL-C is cool! I am using it in conjunction with a PVS27 and the dot is bright and clear past 200 meters. Hold zero and nice and compact. My only issue is the pressure switch doesn't seem to work work reliably.
