Though LPVOs are in AR vogue, I selected this particular 3-9X scope for a number of reasons. I find the low-end 3x setting provides adequate field of view for closer range use and is very usable with both-eyes-open. The optical quality at 3x is outstanding: clear, bright, plenty of contrast and excellent resolution. The eye box is generous with no shadowing at the edges with proper eye alignment. At 3x, this scope is optically better and easier to use than any Acog I have owned. The 9x setting provides more than adequate magnification for fun on steel targets out to 650 yards (the limits of my range). Optical quality at 9x remains very good, though not quite as good as the lower settings with a noticeable loss of contrast. But the view remains bright with excellent clarity and resolution. Due to the SFP design, I opted for the duplex reticle version of this scope (I very much prefer a simple, clean reticle on a SFP variable scope). The reticle is well designed (see the reticle subtension chart posted on the Trijicon site), pulling the eye to the center quickly as a duplex is known for. The inner cross hair is fine enough for precision at greater range or for testing the precision capability of loads from the bench. Reticle illumination IMO is fine for low light shooting, making the reticle easy to see against a dark target. It also works well with the front scope cover closed using the Bindon Aiming Concept. For those who want nuclear-bright in order to use this etched-reticle scope like a RDS, the illumination is definitely not "daylight bright" (a capability that IMO only makes sense at 1x with LPVO FFP scopes). The scope has excellent light transmission and provides a bright view in low ambient light settings - better than any of the "straight tube" LPVOs I have looked through. At 9x it is noticeably brighter than my SWFA HD 10x42 with equal resolution (though less contrast). Covered turrets are what I preferred for the application and is one of the reasons I selected this scope. With the covers removed the adjustments are reasonably crisp, easy to see and dial, and so far appear to track well. Factory-supplied cap tethers would have been appreciated in lieu of the bikini and soft scope covers provided. The overall build quality and ruggedness of the scope appears to be excellent, as expected from Trijicon. Though some may think the 3-9x range is antiquated, this scope will help users get the most out of .223/5.56 rifles capable of sub-MOA precision. Even though I rated it at four stars (making unfair comparisons to more expensive scopes), for the price point it really is an excellent value and worthy of the 5-star rating. Finally, as has been the case before in my experience, Eurooptic service is excellent with prompt, fast delivery and competitive pricing.

I would not buy again because of thin reticle. Good with LED. But if it fails, its about useless for hunting. Center of cross hairs is way to thin. Like you don't need tools to slip scales and comes with cover way Leupold used to. Fast shipping. Like throw over knob is easy to turn.
