Description

The newest addition to Trijicon’s line of combat riflescopes, the VCOG 1-8x28mm provides more magnification and a brighter sight-picture than its predecessors. The 1-8x magnification adds two new upper levels of magnification to the VCOG lineup, allowing more precise shots at longer ranges. The 28mm objective lens offers a brighter a sight picture over the 1-6x model VCOGs that only have a 24mm objective lens. 1-8x VCOGs will be initially available with Trijicon’s first focal plane Segment Circle Cross-Dot reticle in both MOA and MRAD. Additionally the toolless turrets of the new VCOG 1-8x28mm riflescope have .25 MOA/.1 MRAD click values with audible and tactile feedback.

The VCOG 1-8x28mm is built from forged 7075-T6 and military grade aluminum alloys making the scope nearly indestructible. Like all VCOGs, the 1-8x28 features a battle tested integral thumbscrew scope mount for placement on rifles featuring a Picatinny optics rail. The VCOG 1-8x28mm riflescope’s 11 reticle illumination settings are powered by a single AA battery that should last several hundred hours. With both CQB and long range capabilities, the VCOG 1-8x28mm Riflescope will be a perfect pairing for a carbine or DMR style rifle.

Basically a variable ACOG. Illumination is daylight bright, excellent Trijicon quality glass, and absolutely bombproof. Like I think it could take as much abuse as an Aimpoint could and keep on truckin. Built in mount means no scope reticle leveling, which is something that haunts me at night when I have to do it with other scopes. Adjustments track perfectly and the reticle is simple but effective. The center cross now has space around a tiny .15 mrad dot, so it will work fine for long range or precision work. Eyebox is very forgiving and eye relief is massive. Around 4 inches at 1x and 3.9 at 8x. The fin on the magnification ring is helpful but not as effective as a dedicated throw lever. Weight is 31oz, which seems heavy compared to other LPVO's, until you factor in that the VCOG mount is built in. Other scopes you'd have to add a mount which will add 6-8 oz and put them roughly on par with the VCOG in weight. Only major downside I've noticed is that there is significant illumination visible when viewing the front of the scope through the objective lens. I've only viewed this up close to the scope, I have not attempted to view it from any farther away. It may be a non issue out past a few feet, I'm not sure. Either way, I'll be picking up an ARD for mine when they become available. This optic does not have the infamous "diopter shift" exhibited in some early versions of the 1-6x24 VCOG. Changing magnification does not shift the diopter setting whatsoever. All in all, considering the popularity of the ubiquitous ACOG, this optic is criminally underrated and underrepresented in the "tactical" LPVO market. Definitely a hidden gem of a scope.

Super Clear, massive field of view. Eye relief constant through magnification range, as advertised. On Geissele VCOG mount, visually clears top DBAL A3. Works well with KAC 45 offsets. It’s really a clear and bright 1-8 optic with clean distinct reticle On or Off. Can’t wait to see how it works in low light.

Came to me in perfect condition, unlike other places I've ordered from. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Will definitely be coming back to Eurooptic for all my other purchases.
