The Defender CCW is a quality optic that can now give Holosun some competition. It is priced similarly to the Holosun 407K, but because it adheres to the Shield RMSc footprint... you don't need to permanently modify your gun to install it. And it comes with several packs of screws that fit a variety of micro-sized 9mm guns.
The top-loading battery is a welcome addition. I wish the published battery life was just a little longer, but it should last a full calendar year and that's good enough in my book. As long as it can live up to the high standards that Vortex Optics are known for, I will be satisfied with my purchase.

Looks good seems to work good , but have not shot with it on my pistol yet . Do seem to get a little halo from the emitter when looking towards bright light , but not enough to worry me . Have seen some YouTube people say it has bad refresh issue but have not found that to be a factor on my sight . Really like the 6moa dot , have other sights with 2 and 3 moa dots this 6moa seems perfect size for defensive handgun . Overall I am very happy with this sight for the price !

This is my second Vortex Defender 5MOA red dot. I put the XL version on a PCC and I really like how easy and fast the big red dot is to use. The red dot is daylight bright in the southern Arizona sun. I have a variety of Vortex products, scopes , bino/rf,, and I am very happy with their products. Many have been purchased at EuroOptics and EuroOptics has been a pleasure to order from.

Good price, nice bright, crisp vortex dot. Fast shipping as usual. Haven't used it a lot yet but first impressions are pretty good.

About the least expensive red dot that I can get to work reliably on a pistol. These are low profile carry sights, not really for target or competition. Vortex gives you a hardware stores worth of screws to mount the dot on the pistol of your choice. Top access battery compartment, easy to adjust elevation and windage (maybe too easy, this 6 moa dot seems a whole lot easier to turn the screws that the 3 moa I have). Good functionality but I wish it did not stay on automatically for so long. Its a good dot at a good price point but the cheapskate in me wishes it was less spendy... But you do get what you pay for and the hundred dollar dots dont work.

I originally got an RMRcc for my p365 x macro EDC but have yet to send the slide out to get cut and tapped to fit the odd footprint(I'm not a plate mount guy)...I figured I get the defender while I'm contemplating that work...I 100%support buying American made products, first, hence my back and forth.
I got the Defender 6 moa dot. It fit beautiful on the slide. Came with plenty of hardware for many popular handguns and a pic mount. The controls are simple, straight forward. While I was researching this product I noticed folks complained about the refresh rate. I see what they are saying but it's not an issue for me. I would value a longer batter life over a better refresh rate. Battery is loaded on the top, like the DDP. Overall, I'm happy with its performance and use it for EDC.

Excellent product and vast improvement over the venom.

Put it on my HK45. Installation was so easy it's not worth mentioning. After doing a rough bore sight while mounting it, it zero'd in 3 rounds. Put a couple hundred rounds though the pistol, used the sight to rack the slide a couple dozen times. Zero held just fine.

I put one of these on my wife's S&W M&P 380EZ with a Galloway Precision mount. Easy install and zeroed in about 5 shots, She loves being able to quickly acquire the 6MOA dot. My complaint, and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is the 14-hour auto shut-off: Any movement during the 14 hours and the shut-off resets - take it off at night and put it on in the AM and it's basically on forever, until the battery dies. A 14-hour shutoff is only useful for safe queens.

Mounted on my Walther PDP after only a few shots with a couple adjustments it was dead on and staying there. Thought I'd have a problem getting use to it never shooting a red dot before but nope it's quicker for me then regular sights, and Eurooptic as usual was quick getting it to me.
