This is the same scope as the original Vortex Viper PST 1-4X, which sold in large numbers. They brought them back under the Ranger name because of the popularity of the scope. The reticle is superb, but you must adjust the diopter for your eyes. I find it easier to hit a 4" clay with this scope at 4X than a Vortex Gen2 1-6X at 6x. The only criticism is that the illumination is not bright in daylight, but that doesn't bother me.

Right now Euro Optic is running a closeout sale on this LPVO for 299.00, the same cost as the strike eagle. Additionally I was able to compare the Ranger to Strike Eagle as well, and I would go with Ranger over Strike eagle, better glass, better reticle, & lighter weight. Yes the strike eagle has 6x zoom, but at 300 yards 4x vs 6x really doesn't make much of a difference, especially considering glass quality. Yes it is identical to the 1st Gen Vortex Viper 1-4x which has overwhelmingly positive reviews online. The past weekend I had the opportunity to zero it in and came away incredibly impressed. Glass quality is good and little distortion at 1x given you have the diopter properly adjusted. Reticle is fine and easy to pick up with holder overs at targets 300 yards away. Some drawbacks are that the turrets are exposed and not lockable, so if the rifle is bouncing around in a case it's something worth checking before the send rounds down range. Additionally if you're going still hunting and the rifle is slung on your shoulder this could potentially move the turret as well(I have yet to try and see). Great reasonably priced LPVO

I bought this scope for a 13” 6.5 Grendel pistol build. As stated in another review, make sure to adjust the diopter focus for reticle clarity and fish eye effect The glass is very clear and clicks are audible and tactile. The scope was easy to zero and flat spacers are provided to lock turret for return to zero. So far, it has held zero well and during the box test, the scope tracked well. EuroOptic shipped the next day.

I have eight of these scopes now, I have them mounted on M14 type rifles and AR15's. The glass is clear, the adjustments are spot on. I've used it for Service Rifle competition for shooting up to 600 yards. For close in type shooting, it does the job as well, I would rather have this scope, than any red dot type optic.

Basically the rebadged gen 1 Viper 1-4 power, much better optical clarity, brightness and capture than its $299 pricetag belies. Makes my 2 Strike Eagle 1 -6's seem " clunky" in comparison. Turret lock/ shim set up a little more elaborate but very fine. 5 stars.

Glass clarity is fantastic. Turrets are awesome and track well. Illumination is ok, but could be better. This was a $600 optic when first released; best deal in LPVOs currently!

Same great positive clicks as all the Gen 1 PST line has. Holds zero no matter what abuse you throw at it, even on a SCAR Heavy. Great product, great priced LPVO.

Clear bright optic. I really like the size of the dot. Most are too big, but this one is perfect.

Good construction. Very pleased with purchase. Quick delivery and product was in sealed packaging from manufacturer. Definitely like the reticle over traditional red dot.

Very good clarity, and the circle dot is surprisingly better than anything I've tried so far. Great price for what you get in this scope.

I wrote a review in 2020 (above) and still love them. I have been using them since they first were introduced and have a bunch of them. Some of my serial numbers are very low. They are a tremendous value at this price. These scopes were out of stock for a while and I thought that Vortex quit making them, but EuroOptics received some more so I bought another one. Although I have not spoken to Vortex about the numbers made, I believe this is the bestselling scope they have ever made, because they keep making them even though this is first generation. I have a few of the second gen PST 1-6's and like them too. One of these days I would like to try their 1-10. In the meantime, keep stocking this scope.

This was the second Ranger I purchased at this closeout price. Very pleased with it's clarity and overall solid construction. I've always been a Leupold fan and this scope stacks up very favorably. Would definitely buy other Vortex scopes.

Very impressed with this scope for it's price point. Definitely punches above it's price. Very clear reticle and glass once you adjust the focus/diopter. I put this on my 12.5" 5.56 SBR and zero'd at 25 yards then took it out to 100y and used a hold under 6 MOA *Based on my ballistic calculator* (2nd cross hair above the center dot on the reticle) and it was dead on at 100y. The clicks are audible and track well also. Overall, I am very pleased with this scope and am happy with the purchase. I truly feel like I got a $500 scope for half off.

The ranger is almost identical, but has some differences from the pst viper! Pst has mrad and ranger has moa adjustments! Also, the pst weighs a couple ounces more! Other then that, this is a true winner, and would be well served, as a duty weapon, or obviously, competition! For $269 and free 2 day shipping, i was lucky to pick this up, during the closeout! According to Vortex website, this is a limited release scope only, and once sold out, only second hand scopes will be sold!

Really cannot tell much difference between the Ranger, and the earlier Viper than the branding. Of course, only time will tell if it's as rugged and dependable as the Viper.

Great optics. As others have said, make sure to focus the eyepiece before you complain that it seems fuzzy. Really like the versatility of the reticle, enabling you to hit targets from close to far and back close again quickly without having to adjust anything. Vortex makes great products, Eurooptic has great service.

This optic is awesome. For the price point I don’t think it can be beat. It’s mounted on my ar15 and the 1-4 is perfect for my needs. Clear glass, great turrets. I would definitely buy one again

Great optic at a great price. this 1-4x Ranger replaced a PA 1-6x ACSS 300 BO reticle. The vortex ranger provides a much wider fov, more forgiving eyebox, and clearer glass.... all for a hundred dollars less. Very Happy.

Great price on this optic and excellent customer service. I’ll be using this on a duty weapon and this will be my first stop next time I need an optic.

This was my first foray into the LPVO world. I wanted something decent quality that wasn't crazy expensive and with a good warranty and this fits the bill. This is essentially a Gen 1 Viper PST from what I understand and the glass quality supposedly surpasses the Strike Eagle series. I've never handled one of those but the glass on this is great, super clean and bright. The turrets feel nice and tight and have tactile clicks, but they are fairly tall. The reticle is great for this type of optic, segmented circle on 1X is quick to pick up and at 4X the 1 MOA center dot is a fine point for precision. The illumination is pretty close to daylight bright on its highest setting and the reticle is bold and easy enough to see even with it off too. Overall very pleased with the Ranger, would purchase again.

Typical vortex build quality and clarity, excellent. Knobs have nice defined clicks, machining is perfect and it is perfectly clear. I actually bought this for my crossbow and think it was an absolute great decision for that application. Scope aside price and quickness of euro optic has been awesome. My 2nd scope purchase and both have been A+ so always my first place to look.

Not impressed with the glass on this. I owned the original PST 1-4x and it was much clearer. The image looks fairly washed out and the edges are quite blurry, which I've never had on any of my Vortex's before. I just compared this scope side by side to my dad's Strike Eagle 1-6x and the SE has a better image and better magnification. The turrets still feel good and have a crisp click when you turn them. The reticle is still my favorite for a LPVO.
