I grew up buying little else, but Leupolds the VX II ,and then onto the VX 3i line of scopes.I had on occasion purchased some other manufacturers.High dollar Meoptas,Nikons,and B and Ls.None of them approached the value and quality or usability of the Leupolds.The is hands down the finest scope I have ever owned.There is simply no way to get the optic quality and illumination at this price point in a Leupold.If I had the money to drop 2 grand plus on a Leupold than yes i would buy the Leupold. But i can't and the Vortex Viper Gen II is phenomenal.Buy it.

The venerable vortex viper PST Gen 2, what else to say other than it’s the gold standard mid tier precision optic? It packs a mountain of features for its price point and has fantastic glass to boot, the turret clicks feel tactile and downright satisfying to use, it can be abused a good amount and shrug it off with little to no genuine damage. The only minor downsides are that it’s a touch heavier than competitors and doesn't have locking turrets, but for its price point there are no genuine competitors to its ruggedness, quality tracking, and glass clarity

For whatever reason the 3-15 punches well above its weight class when compared to the other power ranges in the PST Gen 2 line. It’s a very versatile crossover/hunting scope to boot. Great scope for the money.

Very nice mid-level scope. Clear optics with an eye box that's easy on the eyes. It's not going to compete with high-end optics but it's optics are still very good yet only a fraction of the price. And Vortex has a great lifetime warranty.
