Blaser’s Ultimate Safari Package was designed to meet the demands of the discerning big game hunter, and comes with the precision and quality that Blaser is known for. This package comes with the high-performance R8 Professional Stock Receiver. The Professional Stock is designed for hard use, with a practically indestructible synthetic body and elastomer inlays to provide a superior grip even in wet and adverse conditions. The Ultimate Safari Package also comes with two interchangeable barrels: a Selous style Safari Barrel in .458 Lott, and a Selous style Semi Weight Barrel in .300 Win Mag. The Selous Safari barrel is slightly shorter in length, approximately 23 inches, and utilizes express open sights for making quick shots. The Selous Semi Weight is optimized with an increased weight and better stabilization, the result is reduced muzzle jump and recoil as well as better accuracy. Both of these barrels can be interchanged with minimal effort. Other features include Blaser’s exclusive Illumination Control, which links to a compatible Blaser illuminated riflescope (not included), and activates the scope’s illumination when the clocking slide is pushed into the firing position. In addition, the Ultimate Safari Package comes with a padded neoprene sling for comfortably carrying the rifle, and a custom Pelican Travel Case with foam cutouts to keep everything safe and organized.

The R8 Rifle itself is one of the highest performing rifles on the market, combining accuracy, reliability, and safety. It utilizes a unique desmodromic trigger mechanism, which features an elegantly simple lever system that guarantees trigger functionality in the worst possible conditions. The triggers pull is just under 2 lbs, and has absolutely zero creep. One of the R8’s most notable features is its distinct manual cocking system – a system acknowledged to be one of the safest in the world. Pressing down and pushing the cocking slide forward instantly and silently cocks the rifle, should the shot not be taken, pressing down and sliding the cocking slide rearward will smoothly de-cock the rifle. Another prominent aspect of the R8 is the bolt handle. Unlike most bolt action rifles that require the bolt to be lifted then pulled back, the R8’s bolt employs a straight-pull type action. This, combined with an ergonomically perfect bolt handle location allows the R8 to cycle the next round almost instantly, thus dramatically increasing the speed of follow up shots. In addition, the Blaser R8 can be quickly and easily disassembled and reassembled even in the field, making maintenance and cleaning practically effortless.
