On Saturday, July 13th, 2024, for the first time in 43 years, a president of the United States was shot in a failed assassination attempt. The failed attempt on Donald Trump’s life resulted in the former president being shot in the ear, the tragic death of spectator Corey Comperatore, and severe injuries for two additional spectators.
In the week following the assassination attempt, armchair tacticians and snipers (most of which who are ignorant of ballistic science) took to social media, blogs, and news articles to push the idea that the attempt was staged and that the shooter’s “earshot” on Trump was intentionally non-lethal. Yeah, okay.
That’s where our friend Brandon Herrera comes in to prove not only that this conspiracy theory is total nonsense from a ballistic science perspective but also to provide a practical demonstration of how impossible it would be to do given the shooter’s firearm and optic. Additionally, Brandon goes over the equipment the United States Secret Service uses to eliminate the shooter, including products from Accuracy International, Nightforce, and Really Right Stuff.
