The MDT CRBN: Not Just Another Rifle Chassis
I have a love hate relationship with rifle chassis. I am 99% sure I have undiagnosed nerve damage in my fingertips after carrying a Sig Sauer Cross through a blizzard in upstate New York during rifle deer season a few years ago. I do love the Sig Cross, but I will never wear fingerless gloves while carrying it again.
Most chassis and aftermarket stocks are heavy, cumbersome and generally irritating to me. The MDT CRBN is none of those things.
First of all, it’s a true drop in for a Remington 700 SA footprint action – no Dremel and anger needed. It features an integrated ARCA rail, MLOK slots along the bottom of the fore-end and QD flush cups on both sides of the stock’s fore and aft. The V-block bedding, a magnesium micro chassis, integrated thumb shelves, 20-degree grip angle, an adjustment cheek riser and LOP; all come together to make this as a true precision chassis. The catch? It only weighs 27 ounces without bottom metal.
I know what you’re thinking, “Jake, it’s gotta be hollow and loud if it's that light!”
WRONG! It’s filled with a harmonically dampening foam from the brainiacs at MDT. This translates to a “dead” feeling rifle. But it also means you don’t spook game into the next state when it brushes against a pine branch.
Jake's Setup
In my example, I took the little quick turn nuts off the cheek riser once I set it where I wanted. I found them less than ideal with my setup (don’t worry, everything you need to do the same is in the box. You can also build a rifle out of it in a bunch of different ways. A little 16” .308 brush busting whitetail rifle? Easy day, a backcountry .300 WSM build with a suppressor and a Sendero barrel? Say less.
We also have this stock, in combination with one of the Bergara barreled actions and a TriggerTech diamond, is the best easy button “build it yourself” rifle option on the market today in my opinion. All you need to do is add glass and some rings/bases.
We are selling the CRBN right now for as low as $1,299.95 in its stripped-down form. The limited-edition camouflage models start at $1,699.95. This thing is literally worth its weight in gold, and I can’t recommend it enough!
