The AlTopo Package by Best of the West is much more than just a rifle with a pre-mounted scope. Rather, it’s a comprehensive system of high-performance components, each of which is specifically manufactured to work in unison with the others.

The AlTopo Rifle itself is an advanced custom-made firearm that excels at long-range precision. Paired with the Huskemaw 5-20x50mm Blue Diamond Riflescope, the AlTopo Rifle is factory zeroed and boasts an impressive Sub-MOA guarantee at an astounding 1,000 yards. The carbon fiber stock is the Game Hunter model made by McMillan, a manufacturer known for producing premium tactical, competition, and hunting stocks. The Game Hunter Stock is extremely lightweight, and features a unique hand-painted pattern that resembles the lines of a topographical map. To promote proper alignment with the scope when shouldering the rifle, the Game Hunter features a Monte Carlo-style cheek piece, and a vertical pistol grip with a sizable palm-swell comfortably fills the shooter’s hand. Texturing on the grip and fore-end areas allows for greater maneuverability in adverse conditions, and a thick rubber recoil pad is included to reduce the effects of kick-back. The AlTopo’s free-floating barrel was manufactured by Wilson Arms, and is composed of 24-inches of high-strength steel. The barrel is given a weather resistant cerakote finish, and spiral fluting helps cut down on weight and gives the rifle a distinct appearance. The barrel is threaded, and topped with a Hawkins side baffle muzzle brake to mitigate recoil, muzzle rise, and reduces the dust kicked up when shooting from the prone position. Another notable feature of the AlTopo Rifle is a single-stage TriggerTech Field Trigger, which can be finely tuned to the user’s preferences all the way down to 2.5lbs. Other features of the AlTopo Rifle include a custom Remington 700 Action Clone made by Big Horn Arms, and features fluting on the bolt body and 3 lugs for enhanced reliability.

Aside from the AlTopo Rifle, the Huskemaw 5-20x50mm Blue Diamond Riflescope is perhaps the second most prominent item offered in this kit. Mounted to the AlTopo Rifle with Talley Modern Sporting Rings, the 5-20x50mm Blue Diamond Riflescope features a wide array of innovations and designs not found on scopes of a lesser quality. It comes equipped with a unique Dual-Stacked windage-enabled BDC turret system, which allows the shooter to accurately dial for both windage and elevation from a single turret. The turret’s distance/elevation is marked in yards rather than MOA/MRAD, allowing the shooter to set to turret to the range of the target. Directly above the distance/elevation markings are a numbers that represent windage adjustment. The windage-enabled BDC turret works in conjunction with the Huskemaw-exclusive Hunt Smart Reticle, which is composed of a precise center crosshair, with hashmarks on the horizontal plane. The hashmarks are MOA based, and correspond to a full wind value of 10 miles per hour, allowing the shooter to use the windage-enabled BDC turret to indicate which MOA hashmark to hold into the wind. The effectiveness of the Dual Stack windage-enabled BDC turret and Hunt Smart Reticle is maximized thanks to Huskemaw’s patented Rapid Field Ballistic Compensator (RFBC), which takes into account factors such as wind speed, bullet weight/velocity, shooter elevation (above sea level), and temperature. With the RFBC system, the shooter can simply acquire the range of their target, measure the wind speed, dial the windage-enabled BDC turret to match the target’s range, and use the corresponding hash mark in the reticle as a hold over point. This eliminates the need for complex calculations and dope cards, increases long-range accuracy, and doubles the maximum effective range. The Dual Stacked design of the turrets also adds an extra level of versatility; essentially, the shooter can fine-tune the scope for different environments, and ammunition types, as well as being used for continuous revolutions for extreme long range shooting. In addition to being factory zeroed, 5-20x50mm Blue Diamond Riflescope's Dual Stack turret is calibrated for different altitudes, with the outer turret set to 3000' and the inner set to 7000'.
