The EOTech 552 Holographic Sight features a robust aluminum construction that protects the optical glass and electronics. The dials on the 552 are also recessed to ensure that there are no snagging issues or unintentional adjustments. The forward section of the 552 Holographic Sight is the battery compartment for 2 AA batteries that provide up to 1000 hours of continuous use with lithium batteries or 600 hours using standard alkaline batteries.

The XR308 reticle is designed for use with the M240 machine gun firing a 150 grain .308 M59 FM at roughly 2800 fps through a 24.8" barrel
