Geissele Automatics
Geissele Cold Hammer Forged 16" CHF Barrel 05-2984 isn't trying to be flashy. It's a 5.56 NATO barrel built the way Geissele builds all its barrels — cold hammer forged, which means the rifling gets pressed into the bore under massive force instead of cut out afterward. That process is slower and more expensive than button rifling, but it's also why these barrels tend to still shoot tight groups well past the round count where a cheaper barrel starts throwing fliers.
At 16 inches with a 1:7 twist and a 1/2x28 thread, this one's set up as a mid-length gas gun — a pretty common configuration for anyone building a general-purpose rifle rather than something ultra-compact or ultra-long. Cold Hammer forged construction aside, the steel itself is chrome moly vanadium, chrome-lined bore and all, which is really just a fancy way of saying it shrugs off heat and doesn't rust easily. M4 feed ramps handle the ammo-feeding side of things, and a manganese phosphate finish rounds out the corrosion protection.
Every barrel gets High Pressure Tested and Magnetic Particle Inspected before it leaves the factory — not a marketing checkbox, just how Geissele catches a bad barrel before it ends up on someone's rifle.
Whether it's going on a duty gun or a competition build, this Geissele barrel is the kind of part you buy once and stop thinking about.
