The Heckler & Koch MR762 A4 is the commercial variant of the legendary HK417, chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO and configured as a factory short-barreled rifle with a 13-inch cold hammer-forged, cannon-grade steel barrel. The MR762 A4's short-stroke gas piston operating system keeps hot carbon fouling out of the action, enabling the rifle to run longer with less maintenance and reduced wear on internal components compared to direct-impingement designs. A two-position adjustable gas regulator — marked "N" for normal and "S" for suppressed — allows the operator to optimize the action for both suppressed and unsuppressed use. The A4 generation features full ambidextrous controls including 45-degree selector levers, bolt catch/release, and magazine release, along with a free-floating M-LOK handguard, full-length Picatinny top rail, and a 5/8x24 threaded muzzle for suppressor or muzzle device compatibility.
