From 1773 to 1785, a group of frontiersmen formed a settlement in what is now Lycoming County Pennsylvania. This group called themselves The Fair Play Men, and had formed their own system of self-rule where everyone would be dealt with fairly, hence the name. By 1776, tensions between America and Great Britain had reached an all-time high, and the Fair Play Men decided it was time for action. In a extraordinary coincidence, the Fair Play Men met beneath the Tiadaghton Elm tree and singed their own Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776 , without any knowledge that Continental Congress had done the same thing in Philadelphia that same day.
The Tiadaghton Elm Rifle was custom made in commemoration of this incredible part of American history. It was hand made using a Kibler Colonial Rifle Kit as its base, with special attention given to historical accuracy. The stock is made from curly maple, and features a relief carving and silver wire inlay of the Tiadaghton Elm. True to the design of original Colonial Rifles, the Tiadaghton Elm Rifle is outfitted with an Aqua Fortis stain and 8 coats of a boiled linseed oil finish.
