Suggested Hunting Scopes

Setting up a fine hunting rig, and learning what works and what doesn't, is one of the joys, frustrations, and overall best experiences in hunting. Here's a few considerations to make when thinking about what optics you'd like to use for your next hunt.

How much magnification you have on your scope can make or break your entire hunt in a few different ways. Too much, and you won't be able to see because your field of view is limited. Too little, and you won't be able to make shots at further distances, and you also won't be able to zoom in to see details about your quarry. If the majority of your shots are in the 20-100 yard range, you might want to think about keeping the magnification down - say, a 1-6x, 2-9x, or 3-10x. However, if there are times where you need to reach out a bit further, make sure your optic has the magnification to let you see out that far.

For hunting, clarity of the scope makes all the difference in the world. When that narrow window comes when you can take the shot, be it first light, dusk, or in poor conditions - if you can't make out your target, you may have just lost your opportunity. Be sure that your scope will let you see what you need to see to be successful.

Last, choose a reticle that lets you make any calculations or adjustments you might need to make, without obstructing your view of the target. Not sure what that might be? In that case, keeping it simple is the conservative way to go.
