The bolt’s sheer reliability and easy movements are perfectly matched by the rifle’s fine-tuned trigger mechanism. The trigger’s pull can be adjusted on a 6 step system, allowing the weight to be calibrated from 750g to 1750g, and trigger ergonomics can be adjusted forward or backward with a movement range of 7mm. For an additional level of safety, the Sako 100 Explorer Wood features a manual cocking “Handspannung” mechanism. This innovative design allows the user to keep the rifle un-cocked with a round in the chamber until they are ready to shoot. To change calibers, simply remove the bolt, unscrew the barrel with the supplied torque wrench, change the barrel to the desired caliber and re-tighten the screws, then replace the bolt. An added benefit to the caliber swapping capabilities is the ability to mount a scope directly to the barrel. The barrel-mounted scope eliminates the need to re-zero the Sako 100 Explorer Wood after swapping calibers, and enhances the rifle’s overall accuracy.
