I used these at the Sniper's Hide Cup in 2015. We had a lot of fog one morning and I was shooting the stage from 1150 to 1350 yards. My Terrapin would not range the targets, but my Steiner 8X30 LRF did.

Steiner finally filled the gap by producing a binoculars / range finder combo in compact size. Something others have failed to do. Based on my first test, its flawless. I got laser reading approaching a mile from non-reflective targets. Depth of view and contrast is excellent, better than I expected from 30 mm lenses. Ranging reticle is probably etched into the right lens and its sharp. The only minor thing is, to keep ranging reticle perfectly perpendicular you have to keep the lens spread at certain position. And if your eyes are spread closer together, like mine, than you are forced to squeeze both sides closer together to get your focus, but that makes reticle non-perpendicular. Not a bit deal really. In such case I compensate by tilting the set a little to keep reticle perpendicular.Otherwise, this is a great quality product. If you are looking for a compact binoculars that has it all, this is it. A+++
