The Strategic Sciences MFMD in 5.56 NATO with 0.7" OTB clearance combines the base muzzle device with the companion Suppressor Device (SD) module, delivering Strategic Sciences' full hearing-safe performance in a compact, over-the-barrel package. Built from 3D-printed Inconel with a flow-through internal design, the MD+SD combo cuts first-round flash by up to 99%, reduces felt recoil substantially, and keeps bolt velocity change minimal so host rifles cycle reliably without retuning. It installs via direct thread onto 1/2x28 barrels using the included shims and torque tool, with no separate adapter needed. Because the design telescopes back over the barrel rather than extending forward, it preserves barrel length and keeps weight closer to the receiver for better handling than a traditional forward-mounted can. Finished in Flat Dark Earth, this configuration gives shooters a genuinely hearing-safe NFA suppressor system without sacrificing the balance and maneuverability of a longer barrel.
