Reviews for Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 MOA EBR-2C Riflescope PST-43127

Average Rating

I've owned a lot of quality optics over the years including over a dozen different Trijicon ACOGs, a US Optics, Nightforce, several Leupold Mk4, etc. Based upon my experience with other Vortex products I expected a very high value (price to performance) ratio on the PST 6-24 FFP. Upon receiving the optic I was very happy with the packaging, etc. My excitement abated when I dialed the optic over 12x. From 6-12x it is crystal clear. Above 12x and the clarity transitions to a "milky" or "foggy" image. Vortex Customer service was OUTSTANDING in addressing my concerns. Unfortunately, they ultimately found the optic is performing to specifications. I think this is a "you get what you pay for" situation. For the price it is a good optic. Vortex's CS is absolutely second to none (I could write an entire glowing report about how they rolled out the red carpet for me). Would I recommend this optic to someone else? Yes, but I would tell them to expect decreasing image quality with increasing magnification. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

I’ve run optics from all the quality manufacturers over the years. This offering from Vortex is simply amazing given its price point. Completely clear edge-to-edge, great tracking. I disagree with some of the reviews here as I experienced none of the clarity issues at magnifications they mention. I highly recommend this glass for anyone one on a budget shooting precision rifle up to 1000m.

I have purchased many Vortex PST scopes in the past. The clarity is unsurpassed! Dials move and click just right. They have the quickest eye piece of any, including Leupold. (my opinion) Buy this and never look back, because it is better than many 1,000.00 + scopes. The reticle in the FFL model does not get too large. Great on my 6ppc, 7-08 and now 6BR.

I purchased this scope just before the deer season to replace a Vortex 4-18x Strike Eagle that was on my Bergara B-14 HMR in 6.5 Creedmoor. The Strike Eagle is a great durable, budget scope that I had no problem reaching out to 500 yards with no problem and I am pleased to say that the PST is its better in every way. The dials are crisp and consistent which made it very easy to sight in. I was also surprised to see that the paralax graduations were accurately marked and useful unlike the Strike Eagle. The clarity of the scope is excellent with good ambient light however, in indoor ranges and at dusk the higher magnifications pick up a slight haze. My only complaints about the scope is that it is a heavy scope and that only three or four magnifications are marked. As far as durability goes I hunt on an extremely rocky ranch in south Texas and use an old jeep to get around it. After 3 days of violent bouncing and vibration the scope still held its zero and I was able to make consistent shots out to 500 yards. I would highly recommend this scope to anyone looking for a great hunting scope that can also help you reach out to distance.

This is a great scope and a tremendous value. Often people will say “it’s great for the money, but...”. No “buts” here. I have three of them. If I acquire a new rifle this is the first and often only scope I consider. Clear glass to the edge at all powers, excellent tracking, reticle not distracting (which can, for me, be a problem with some ranging reticles)...what’s not to like?

Arrived promptly, the price is the best period. Just bought a Rpr in .308 & needed quality glass to go with it. I am really pleased with this scope. As of this review I haven't had a chance to put it to use, only got it mounted & squared away. But already feel good about this purchase.

This is a very high quality product with a crystal clear picture even at max magnification. The clicks on the turrets are very crisp. Once sighted in, I let me wife, who has never shot through a scope, fire it and she was hitting dead on. The price through Eurooptic cannot be beaten. The quickness at which I received my product was incredible as well. I will definitely be buying more from them and definitely more from Vortex.

I’ve built my R700 AAC-SD .308 over time - & when funds were available - into a highly capable LRP rifle... A-5 chassis, Timney trigger, DBM mod, et al, all except for optics that were far inferior to what my R700 required to be considered proper capable for LRP shooting. Given the fact that I’ve built it over time as my budget allowed - a limited budget, mind you - I had my heart set on a Vortex Viper PST 5-25x50 Generation TWO: on average around $1,000, & out of reach for me for quite some time, I suspected. When I found a Gen ONE available on EuroOptic for almost half the price, I couldn’t let it pass me by; I bought... My Gen I Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50, MOA, FFL has been everything I hoped for, & everything I expected from Vortex down to the finest details & attention to quality, design & features typically reserved for optics sold for 3x the price at a minimum. Thanks to EuroOptic making an $800 scope accessible to me at a shocking sale price, I’ve been able to complete my build far sooner - & far better - than I ever expected; that means a lot to me... I commend EuroOptic on their superior products & fair pricing, as well as customer service / support that properly represents the caliber of business that they seek to be. Great scope - great price - great company, hands down...

Poor eye relief for me, I prefer Nikon scopes they have the best eye relief. It looks like the scope is made in the same factory in the Philippines it is very good quality looks excellent it’s just not for me

I have purchased, mounted, and put to use several of these Vortex Gen 1 PSTs, and my opinion is that these are a GREAT Value. Very good glass, almost perfect tracking, easy adjustments, and 100% reliable without any problems. Are there better scopes with better glass? Sure. I also own some Leupold and NightForce scopes that I love, and if I had an unlimited budget, I would probably just stick with those brands. However, because I cannot afford to put my favorite Night Force on every gun I own, I appreciate that these Vortex models get me very close to the best at a price I can afford. I am very happy with all of my Vortex purchases.

Scope works great on my new AR10. Bought the Viper Sunshade also. Don’t bother with that, this scope comes with one! Unbeatable value, Thanks!

This is my first FFP high magnification optic. I purchased it for a Aero M5 Ar10 with 18 inch Faxon barrel (will probably switch to 20-22 inch 6.5 creedmoor in the future). I've mounted it using a Vortex Viper 30mm cantilever mount and everything mounted easily and looks good. I've only been out shooting with it once. I used 168 grain OTM at 100 yards. It took about 5 shots to zero dead on @ 100 yards. I was getting consistent .75-1 inch, 3-5 shot groups. I don't have much to compare this to but it seem very nice to me. I usually run red dots (Trijicon MROs) or ACOGs and previously the most variable magnification I had was one Nikon 3-9x40, so this is a big jump up in quality and magnification. I mainly purchased it because it has the lifetime warranty and was half the price of other 24x + FFP. I still go back and forth on the MRAD vs MOA but I went with MOA so I guess that's what I'm stuck with. I will be temporarily mounting this on my SCAR 17 just to see what accuracy I can get out of it, so we will see if it lives through that. If I have to use the warranty at that time, I will update this if possible. I'd buy it again, possibly with MRAD but I don't do enough long range shooting, as of now, for that to matter much.... I'm happy with it.

This scope is terrific. Clear glass edge to edge. Probably the finest crosshairs I've ever owned. I got a screaming deal from Eurooptic and shipping was quick. I couldn't be happier.

Clear edge to edge at all optical power levels. The first scope I received had an issue with the dioptic adjustment, eurooptics staff was great to deal with and got me a replacement quickly. Very happy with the scope and the service.

Not much else to say that hasn't been said about the 6 X 24. The one I received is clear at all powers. EuroOptics had a great price and shipping was quick.

Excellent clarity, great illumination, and great adjustment, each turret adjustment is firm and audible. This optic has alot of value for the money, not to mention I got a smoking deal on it from my favorite Optics retailer!

This was my first optic for long range shooting and couldn't be more pleased with the quality and the price. You can't beat Vortex quality accompanied with its VIP warranty. Had a buddy on the range with me who had a Leopold Mark 4 tactical and was really impressed with the glass clarity and scope options on this Vortex optic versus his more expensive setup. For anyone looking to get into learning MOA for long range shooting and measuring distances this is the way to go. The only con I have with the scope is I am left handed and the illumination turret can sometimes scrap your knuckle when operating the bolt, but other than that no complaints.

Very nice scope and good service. Scope covers are about, no the worse I have ever seen for a $500 to $1000 dollar scope. Low end covers on a $70 scope would compare. I know most folks replace anyway so no big deal.

This is my second vortex viper pst. They are very clear and work well for hunting and long range shooting. I have one on a custom .300 rum and another on a ruger percision 6.5 prc. No problems holding zero and easy adjustments. Highly recommend vortex.

Great scope. The turrets track accurately which enables the shooter to dial in targets more efficiently. The turrets are crisp and you can hear the click, which I think is a bonus. The zero stop is a must as well as the FFP. The reticle is great for quick hold over shots. On 6 power, the reticle is a little faint but still workable. I don't notice a change in weight compared to my last burris black diamond scope. The clarity of the scope is great. My friend owns the same scope and has it placed on a 22-250 Ackley. With no wind, he has no troubles shooting out to 1000 yards repeatably. I have the Leupold LRP and the Burris Veracity and this scope out performs the Veracity and is pretty even with the LRP. The rear focus is nice, but when putting scope caps on, the caps will turn while you focus. Great scope, glad I purchased it from Eurooptic. Best price on the intranet for this scope.

Yes, it was love at first sight. I had researched for months before purchasing this scope, the Vortex Viper PST (Gen. 1) 6-24x50, EBR-2C, MOA. I bugged the hell out of the employees of all the local gun shops, and the shops I went to while traveling. I looked through dozens and dozens of scopes, ranging in price from a couple hundred to a few thousand dollars. Is this the highest quality glass that I looked through? No. Is it the one that best fit my criteria for quality, reticle, and price? Definitely. The price being $529.99 at the time of purchase afforded me the opportunity to own a much nicer scope than any other scope you could purchase for even hundreds more. As far as EuroOptic goes, they are top notch. I emailed a question to customer service before I made the purchase and I received a fast, informative, courteous reply. Most companies, if you ever do get a reply, take days to respond. I got my answer from EuroOptic in about an hour. Yes, WOW!!! And I received my order in 5 business days from placing my order. That is something that I really appreciate. I am a EuroOptic customer for life and hope you will give them the chance to become one too.

This older model scope has all the functionality of the newer model, at a much lower price point. Interestingly, I already owned the newer 5-25, and find this one almost exactly the same for image and function. I like FFP for hunting, and do use the range finding capabilities. Too much trouble to use separate rangefinder. High magnification very useful for precision sighting in and load development. Why not save some$$? while these last.

Out of a 5 star review I give it 6 stars. The clicks are very positive! The turrets are not only audible but you can definitely feel it through your fingers. The tracking is spot on! You can zero, go 20 moa up and 10 moa left, then do the opposite and you’ll still be on zero! The clarity is ridiculously clear and the matching reticle is spot on! It’s a no brainer, buy this scope! Buy it with confidence!

Great looking scope with Crystal clear glass even into the higher magnification. The best part about it is a decent longer range scope for a killer price.

Very good scope for this price range solid dials positive clicks easy to turn turrets magnifying ring is on the stuff side but easily fixed with switchveiw I liked it so much I just bought my fourth one to replace scope that came with rifle now every rifle I have this scope on is shooting better than 3/8" moa or better I just don't like how much of the reticle I loose on high magnification with first focal plane just buy one before there gone you'll like it pull the trigger already and quit reading this

Very happy to have found these scopes still available. The 1st Gen has many features that are no longer available .. unless you jump up in price. The whole reticle illuminates on these... in order to get that on the current Gen's.. you need to jump up quite a bit in price. Another "perfect" feature , is the cross hair centers is open slightly. That allows you to see the point of aim, rather then covering the point of aim. Little things like that matter. Scope arrived in perfect condition and very promptly. EuroOptic went above and beyond to call of duty. I whole heartedly recommend them.
