Geissele Cold Hammer Forged 5.56 NATO 13.9" 1:7" 1/2x28 Chrome Lined Barrel 05-2989

The Geissele Cold Hammer Forged 5.56 NATO 13.9" 05-2989 barrel is the kind of part you buy once and stop thinking about. At 13.9 inches with a 1:7 twist and 1/2x28 threading, this 13.9 Geissele barrel sits in a length that's become a favorite for shooters who want the balance of a mid-length gas system without giving up too much velocity — maneuverable enough for close-quarters work, still long enough to keep 5.56 performing the way it's supposed to.

What actually sets this barrel apart is how it's made. Geissele starts with chrome moly vanadium steel and puts it through a cold hammer forging process rather than the cheaper button-rifling method a lot of manufacturers default to. That process packs the metal tighter and produces rifling that stays consistent shot after shot, which translates directly into a barrel that holds its accuracy well past the point where lesser barrels start to fade. If you've ever wondered why a CHF Barrel costs more than a standard option, this is the answer — you're paying for a manufacturing process that actually extends service life, not just a name on the box.

The chrome lining adds another layer of durability on top of that, standing up to heat and fouling from sustained fire far better than a bare bore would. Add in M4 feed ramps for smoother, more reliable feeding and a manganese phosphate finish that resists corrosion, and you end up with a barrel that's just as comfortable running duty cycles as it is on a competition line.

This isn't a barrel built for one narrow use case. The mid-length gas system, the twist rate, and the overall build quality make it a solid fit whether you're putting together a home-defense rifle, a duty gun, or a competition build that needs to run hard without losing its edge.

For anyone assembling a build around reliability rather than chasing the cheapest option on the shelf, the Geissele barrel 05-2989 is worth serious consideration.
