The Accuracy International ASR Deployment Kit is the direct result of USSOCOM's search for their next precision weapon dubbed the Advance Sniper Rifle or ASR. The government’s solicitation for this new rifle laid out several strict features and specifications of what will become the ASR. In an effort to win the USSOCOM contract, Accuracy International developed a new rifle platform the AXSR, to replace their popular AXMC rifle.
