The Sidekick 640 Mini Thermal Monocular is Armasight’s entry to compact thermal imagers. It can be used as a handheld device, or can be mounted to a helmet for hands-free operation. A 50 Hz frame rate ensures the Sidekick 640 is more than capable of tracking moving objects, and provide smooth panning. The heart of the Sidekick 640 is Armasight’s exclusive ArmaCORE 640x480 12 um thermal core – a high-powered sensor that can detect a human-sized heat signature at 709 meters, recognize a human-sized heat signature at 177 meters, and identify a human-sized heat signature at 111 meters. The Sidekick 640 projects these heat sources onto a high definition XGA 1024x768 display and can be viewed on multiple color palettes. This allows the user to adapt the Sidekick 640 to their preferences or to specific environments, and image quality can be improved via integrated digital enhancement. In addition, the Sidekick 640 is outfitted with a ULTEM composite body to withstand the rigors of real-world applications, and offers simple, ergonomic controls.
