Tikka T3x ACE Target Rifles
Long-range shooting happens behind a barricade, against a clock, while you wait to hear steel ring 900 yards away. That's the job the Tikka T3x ACE Target Rifles were built for. They weigh around 10.5 pounds before you add a scope, which helps them sit still on a prop, soak up recoil and let you spot your own hits. We have 13 listed right now in four calibers, and three of them are left-handed.
What Every ACE Target Shares
The heart of every Tikka T3x ACE Target is a heavy, free-floated, cold hammer forged barrel. The extra steel holds zero as it heats up through a long stage. Every barrel is threaded 5/8x24.
The trigger is two-stage and adjustable with an Allen key, from about 2 to 4 pounds. You take up the slack, then it breaks exactly where you expect it to.
The rifle runs 10-round metal magazines. The release sits inside the trigger guard, so mag changes get quick with a little practice. The mag well is interchangeable too, if you want to run a different pattern.
The chassis adjusts for length of pull, cheek height and recoil pad position. The skeletonized buttstock takes add-on weights. There's an ambidextrous thumb rest, and the grip adjusts and accepts AR-style grips. Underneath you'll find M-LOK slots and an Arca rail. A 20 MOA Picatinny rail is on top from the factory.
The Calibers
6.5 Creedmoor
Walk down the firing line at most PRS matches and the 6.5 Creedmoor outnumbers everything else. Match ammo is easy to find, recoil is mild, and it carries well past 1,000 yards. The Tikka T3x ACE Target 6.5 Creedmoor comes with a 26-inch barrel in black or Midnight Bronze, and the bronze version is also available left-handed.
There's a shorter 23.7-inch run as well. If you're shopping for a Tikka ACE Target 6.5 Creedmoor with a different look, one version pairs a black steel barreled action with an anodized chassis. The other wears Tungsten Cerakote on the metal over a Midnight Bronze Cerakote chassis.
6mm Creedmoor
The 6mm has even less recoil. It runs a 26-inch barrel with a fast 1:7.5 twist for heavy, high-BC bullets. Watching your own impacts through the scope is easier with this one than with anything else on the page. It comes in black or Midnight Bronze.
.308 Win
The Tikka T3x ACE Target 308 suits shooters who already have a stack of .308 brass, or who compete in tactical divisions that call for it. It has a 24-inch barrel with a 1:10 twist, in black, Midnight Bronze, or left-hand Midnight Bronze.
.223 Rem
The Tikka T3x ACE Target 223 is your trainer. It's cheap to shoot, there's barely any recoil, and it's ideal for working on positions and wind calls between matches. Its 24-inch barrel has a 1:8 twist, so it stabilizes the heavier bullets that hold up best at distance. It's offered in black, Midnight Bronze and left-hand Midnight Bronze.
How to Choose a Tikka ACE Target
What you're training for. For a first PRS season, the 6.5 Creedmoor is the safest choice. Match ammo is easy to buy, load data is everywhere, and almost anyone at the match can help you troubleshoot. If spotting your own hits matters most to you, step down to the 6mm Creedmoor. Choose the .308 if your division requires it, or if you already reload for it.
How much you'll shoot. If you plan to put thousands of rounds a year through the rifle, the .223 makes practice affordable. A lot of shooters buy a .223 alongside a 6.5 or 6mm so they can practice cheaply and still compete with the bigger round.
Barrel length. The 26-inch barrels on the 6.5 and 6mm Creedmoor wring the most velocity out of those cartridges, which helps past 800 yards. The 23.7-inch 6.5 Creedmoor models are a little shorter and quicker to move between positions. The .223 and .308 both run 24 inches.
Finish and handedness. Black and Midnight Bronze cover most of the lineup. The two 23.7-inch 6.5 Creedmoors add a black steel option and a Tungsten Cerakote option. Left-handed shooters can choose the .223, .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor, all in Midnight Bronze.
