Tikka T3x Hunter Rifles
A synthetic stock does the job, but a lot of hunters still want walnut on their deer rifle. The Tikka T3x Hunter Rifles give you that oiled walnut and hand-cut checkering on the outside, with the smooth, accurate T3x action underneath. We have nine of them listed right now. You'll find .308 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor, .223 Rem and .350 Legend, with barrels from 16 to 22.4 inches.
What Makes a T3x Hunter
The stock is what most people come for. Tikka uses selected walnut with an oiled finish and checkering on the grip and forend. An oiled stock is easy to look after. Rub in a little oil now and then and it'll handle rain and scuffs, and it can last long enough to hand down.
Beneath the wood, it's all T3x. You get a two-lug bolt with a 70-degree lift, a cold hammer forged barrel in a light hunting profile, a single-stage trigger, a two-position safety and a detachable magazine. The receiver is ready for rings or a rail out of the box.
Most models on this page are walnut. A few short, ranch-style builds wear a matte synthetic Hunter stock instead, so check the stock description on each listing if wood matters to you.
The Lineup
.308 Win
The Tikka T3x Hunter .308 Win we stock has a 16-inch barrel and a walnut stock. It's short and quick in thick timber, and it handles well from a tree stand. With a suppressor on it, it's still a reasonable length.
6.5 Creedmoor
This is the deepest part of the lineup. The Tikka T3x Hunter 6.5 Creedmoor comes with a 22.4-inch barrel in four versions:
- blued, right-hand
- blued, left-hand
- stainless, right-hand
- stainless with a fluted barrel, right-hand
The stainless models pair a weather-resistant barreled action with the classic walnut, which is a good combination for a wet November. The fluted one trims a little weight off the front end.
.223 Rem
The Tikka T3x Hunter .223 Rem comes in two 16-inch versions. One is walnut over a blued barrel. The other is a ranch-style build with a matte stock and a 1/2x28 thread for a muzzle device or suppressor. Either one makes a nice coyote or varmint rifle that you'll enjoy carrying.
.350 Legend
If you hunt a straight-wall state, the Tikka T3x Hunter .350 Legend is worth a look. It comes in 16 or 20 inches, and both use a 1:16 twist. Recoil is mild and it hits hard at deer-woods distances.
How to Choose a Tikka T3x Hunter
Caliber is the first decision, and it comes down to where you hunt. For most whitetail country, the .308 Win or 6.5 Creedmoor will cover it. The 6.5 recoils less and stays flatter at longer ranges. The .308 gives you the widest choice of hunting ammo. In straight-wall states, the .350 Legend is the obvious pick. Check your state's current rules. For coyotes and varmints, take the .223 Rem.
Next, barrel length. The 16-inch .308, .223 and .350 Legend models are the handiest in tight cover and stay compact with a suppressor. The 22.4-inch 6.5 Creedmoor and the 20-inch .350 Legend give you more velocity for shots across a field or cut line.
Then blued or stainless. Blued steel looks traditional next to walnut, and it's fine if you wipe your rifle down after a hunt. If you hunt in rain or snow, or just don't want to worry about rust, go stainless. Only the 6.5 Creedmoor comes in stainless right now.
Left-handed shooters can get the 6.5 Creedmoor in a blued left-hand Hunter. It's the only left-hand option on this page at the moment.
