The ACOG horseshoe reticle TA31H red horseshoe BAC reticle calibrated for 5.56 .223 flattop rifles gives shooters the Bindon Aiming Concept's instinctive both-eyes-open close-range acquisition through the open red horseshoe - the dominant eye sees the bright red horseshoe against the target naturally for fast engagement at close range, while the precise center dot provides accurate aiming for the medium-range distances that the 800-meter calibrated BDC covers. The reticle calibration is specific to .223 flattop rifle ballistics - the correct holdover references for this cartridge, rather than a generic reticle requiring mental correction.
The Trijicon ACOG TA31H daytime illumination is provided by fiber optics that automatically adjust the red horseshoe brightness to ambient light levels, and tritium illuminates the reticle at night without any batteries, switches, or activation required. The always-on, battery-free illumination system that the 4x32 ACOG platform has built its combat legacy around, with over 1 million units produced and deployed by US Special Operations Forces and the Marine Corps.
